1. Level 3 Proficiency: Camera Raw
Many professional photographers shoot in camera “raw” which is a file size larger than “L” or large AND a
different file extension. On our Canon cameras it is .CR2, rather than a JPEG (Nikon is a .NEF). Therefore, it will
not show up as a thumbnail in “My Computer”. Rather, you need to “Browse in Bridge” to see it. Also, when you
open it, you will see a different editing window separate from the Photoshop toolbar. Here you must edit first
and then compress into a JPEG before bringing it into Photoshop. Shooting and editing in raw allows you to work
with the highest quality photo possible, the clearest image, before you convert it down to a JPEG for sharing.

Step 2: Camera Settings and Shooting
• Use NEW cameras – (#17-20) Go to MENU and set File size to RAW (don’t forget to change back!)
• Shoot MANUALLY and choose appropriate ISO, WB, shutter speed and aperture for OUTSIDE:
