Solar Impact Overview
1. Solar Impact LLC (SI) is a project development
firm with Engineering, Procurement and Construction
(EPC) capacity. Created in 2001 as an Ohio company,
SI is headquartered in Shaker Heights, Ohio and is
directed by two Shaker Heights residents, Brett N. Jones
and Keith P. Johnson.
Development
As a development firm we bring value to solar projects by helping our clients create a Solar
Development Plan that: (1) includes financial models that meet ROI requirements; (2) identifies the
necessary sources of capital and incentive mixes to get solar systems built; (3) details system design
to includes all engineering requirements; (4) creates a procurement strategy that supports the system
design with the proper technology selection; and (5) includes work plans for permitting, construction,
testing and commissioning of each project.
Design
At Solar Impact, we utilize the consultative process during the design phase to uncover details regarding
the proposed project site, the system size and system configuration. We use these details to ensure you
receive a solar system with superior electrical and structural engineering, that utilizes the right materials
and that has a clear and executable Maintenance, Repair and Operation (MRO) plan. It is also during
the design phase that we spend the most time educating your internal stakeholders about Photovoltaic
technology and the benefits it can deliver.
Construction
When the project moves from the design phase into system
construction, we review the Solar Development Plan with your
operations team so they are aware of the infrastructure being
introduced into your operating environment. We then work the
Director of Operations to identify one of your team members
that will become the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME). We
work with this SME throughout the installation process to be
sure we build in accordance with stakeholder guidelines and
that we meet all known performance metrics

2. Current Project
The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) was a recipient of a Federal Transit Authority
grant to improve the Transit Waiting Environments (TWE) along its bus and passenger rail lines. The
GCRTA selected several sub-recipients one of which was the City of Cleveland Heights. As a sub-
recipient, the city council decided they wanted Solar Transit Shelters. After responding to a Request For
Qualifications, Solar Impact was chosen as the Design-Build firm to deliver cutting edge Solar Transit
Shelters. It is expected these shelters will be delivered August 2010.

and to provide the overall engineering and construction oversight for our photovoltaic power plants. Mr.
Johnson has a BS in Electrical Engineering with continued studies in the Master Program.
Earl L. Lee III - Project Designer & Construction Administrator
Earl brings over ten years of industrial design and wayfinding design
experience to the project team. Earl’s understanding of the finite
details of design and technology as related to the built
environment, how a brand and design plays out from
its form, function, identity to signage and wayfinding
add value to each and every collaborative team. His
strategic approach and utmost attention to detail
have helped ensure that design solutions can be
both innovative and cost effective.
As part of a collaborative team with developers,
real estate professionals, architects, and interior
designers, Earl has helped develop everything
