Education is Your First
[Best] Defense
The Diabetes Education Center at Lawrence
General Hospital is staffed with a professionally
trained medical team including a Registered Nurse
and a Registered Dietician. They collaborate with your
physician to help you control your Diabetes through
healthy eating, exercise plans designed to fit your
personal lifestyle and needs as well as assistance
with management of your medications and blood
sugar levels. A multi-disciplinary advisory committee
oversees the program and ensures you are receiving
the highest quality education.
The Diabetes Education Center has been
successfully treating adolescents and adults
with Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes since 1996.
Training in numerous topics is offered to help
you understand and better manage your
particular type of Diabetes including:
Understanding Diabetes
Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 Diabetes often results in weight issues as a result
of abnormal blood sugar levels. Practical weight loss
through good nutrition and menu planning, moderate
exercise and stress management is encouraged. You’ll
learn to monitor blood sugar levels at home and receive
guidance in taking your prescribed medication.
Type 1 Diabetes
If you have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, you are
most likely administering your insulin through a syringe,
insulin pen or a pump. We will teach you the technical
basics of taking insulin and monitoring blood sugar levels
as well as properly planning meals and snacks. In-depth
instruction is available if you are just beginning to use
insulin or if you are a long-time insulin user who needs
tighter control of your blood sugar level.
Gestational Diabetes
If you have been diagnosed with Diabetes as a result
of a pregnancy, we will help ensure your pregnancy
is healthy through careful blood sugar monitoring
and meal planning.
Individualized Diabetes Management Plan
When working with the Diabetes Education Center, the
first step is an evaluation to determine your individual
educational needs. A Diabetes Management Plan is then
developed according to your special circumstances.
• Diabetes Disease Process
• Management of pre-Diabetes, newly
diagnosed Diabetes, or changes in
condition or treatment regiment
• Nutrition Management
• Physical Activity
• Medications
• Self-Monitoring/Using Results
• Acute and Chronic Complications
• Goal Setting and Problem Solving
• Psychosocial Adjustment
• Pregnancy and Gestational Diabetes
Expanding your understanding of Diabetes
promotes better self-care, increases well-being
and energy, and decreases stress.
You Are Not Alone
Group Education Sessions
The Diabetes Education Center offers a free,
monthly Support Group for you and your family.
This open forum is led by a certified Diabetes
Educator and covers a wide range of issues. It is
a great opportunity to share experiences and learn
from one another. Meetings are held monthly at
Lawrence General Hospital.
The Center runs ongoing educational sessions
incorporating demonstrations and practice, handouts
and videotapes, as well as ongoing conversations and
support. Expanding your understanding of Diabetes
promotes better self-care, increases well-being and
energy, and decreases stress. By replacing fear with
facts, you will gain better control of your disease.
Insurance Coverage
Education sessions are reimbursed through
most major insurance plans.

is creating pieces that harmoniously blend functionality with beauty, and
timelessness with quality. My upbringing in an Air Force family enabled me to
travel the world, and gain a true appreciation for the arts. Once I learned the art
of stone cutting, this naturally led to the desire to learn how to present my stones.
After college I moved to Atlanta to study the art of jewelry design, and I became
a Goldsmith and Silversmith. I worked for a high-end jewelry gallery for 11 years
prior to moving with my family to New Hampshire. I now live in Concord with
my husband and two children. I look forward to designing and fabricating
each custom piece of jewelry, and seeing the joy it brings others.
My Greatest Passion...

I have had the pleasure of working with Bluehorse Creative on
multiple client projects. They consistently produce on-the-mark
marketing communications and design solutions incorporating the
client’s branding while offering high visual appeal.Their sense of color
and attention to detail results in a design aesthetic that stands out
whether it’s web, print advertising or any other type of collateral.Their
marketing background helps to infuse the right balance of copy and
design while delivering a strong message. They are able to handle any
size client but are not so big that personal attention and relationship
management get lost.As a marketing agency, I have complete
confidence in their ability to handle all of the graphic design
needs for my clients.
Susan Noel | President
Marketing Matters, LLC | Windham, New Hampshire
For the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of doing business with
Ryan and Sandy Pogue.Their quality of work, professional attitude
and ability to deliver fresh creative (always something better than
imagined) remain unparalleled.
I rely on Sandy’s creative talent to bring ideas to life. I can always count
on her to take design concepts to a whole new level, which is why she
is my first choice for creative services. Her high-end work adds value to
the finished product, and I end up with happy customers.

I met Ryan through Linkedin as we were commenting on some
marketing topics. I was impressed by his creativity and business
acumen and decided to use his company for a large advertising
campaign with one of my clients. My client and I were so impressed
by the creative ads that we were able to complete the entire ad
campaign in record time. He and his wife Sandy are a rare find and
one of the best creative agencies that I have had the pleasure to work
with throughout my career. I will continue to use Ryan and Sandy as
part of my company’s creative team and highly recommend him to
any company due to his quality, integrity, and professionalism.

My upbringing in an Air Force family enabled me to travel the world, and gain a true appreciation for the arts. Once I learned the art of stone cutting, this naturally led to the desire to learn how to present my stones. After college I moved to Atlanta to study the art of jewelry design, and I became a Goldsmith and Silversmith. I worked for a high-end jewelry gallery for 11 years prior to moving with my family to New Hampshire. I now live in Concord with my husband and two children. I look forward to designing and fabricating each custom piece of jewelry, and seeing the joy it brings others.
