This document provides instructions and a rubric for an assignment on healthcare funding in the United States. Students are asked to write a 2-3 page brief for a healthcare organization's board of directors advocating for the addition of a public or private funding source to serve uninsured and underinsured patients. The brief must describe current funding sources accepted, explain the benefits and features of the proposed new source, compare its advantages to other options, and relate it to provisions of the Affordable Care Act. Adherence to academic writing standards and inclusion of citations are required. The rubric will be used to evaluate submissions on clarity, accuracy, depth of explanation, and demonstration of course objectives.
