STORYBIRD AS A CREATIVE MEDIA TO TEACH NARRATIVE TEXT
When my lecturer asked me what my interest topic is, I would say digital technology.
In 21st century, everyone almost has known about technology and internet. They have known
how to use gadget and how to operate internet. Even, the children like elementary students
know to use it. It inspires me to decide the title of my final project.
In my high school era, when the teacher asked me to write a story, she only asked to
make script of drama. She never asked to make a simple story before a script of drama. I found
out difficulty to make long story like a script of drama. Even though, I had make a story in
Bahasa Indonesia, I still confused to make long story in English. Because of that, I want to
make simple way to teach children write simple story using internet application.
As we know, many students have familiar with gadget and all application in there, so I
assume that they have mastered how to use it. Then, I choose one of application in internet that
can help students to write a story. This application called Storybird. It provides collection of
pictures that will help students to create story uses the pictures.
Using Storybird as a media to teach writing a story is really fun for students. They do
not have to focus on paper, but they will use computer or laptop to create their story. The
students also can be more creative to create their story. This is because they will also concern
about what picture that they should use in their story. This kind of activity will make student
and teacher relation closer. The teacher can give comment, heart, and score to their story. So,
it is also one lesson plan that can be used for the teacher. It will make the students happy doing
that assignment.
