2. October release for Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé is due for release next month.Big Motoring World looks at

It’s the second edition of the four-car line-upof the C-Class and this new coupé looks like a cross
betweenthe C-Classsaloonandthe S-ClassCoupé–the frontendislike asaloon,whilstthe backend
and leading edges of the doors are like the S-Class.
Design
The second-generation Coupé is 95mm longer and 40mm wider than the first-generation car, yet
rather thanlookingbulky,itsslickdesignallowsforamore spaciousinteriorandheadroomin all the
seats.
The front seats are sporty, with two individual seats in the back and access to the interior is via
framelessdoors.ProjectleaderChristianFrühsaysthatthey are amongthe longestonany Mercedes-
Benz model.
The ride heighthasbeenloweredby15mm, withsuspensionsimilartothe C-Classsaloon. Optional is

allows for more space for a larger engine. There will be a 1.6-litre unit in the entry-level C180 that
gives 156bhp. There will also be a 2.0-litre unit giving 184bhp in the C200, 211bhp in the C250 and
245bhp in the C300. A four-port turbo diesel will also be an option, giving 168bhp in the C220d or
201bhp inthe C250d. Whateveryourchoice of engine,theyare all 27% more efficientthanthatof the
previous model. The 4Matic four-wheel drive system is also optional, withall engines powering the
rear wheels.

Extras

Whilst in appears similar visually to the former model, this refined A Class includes some important
tweaks.Perhaps thebiggestnewsistheoptionof adaptivedampingforthe firsttime –plusthefitment
of DynamicSelectvariabledrivemodesacrossthe majorityof the range. Startingatjustover£28,000,
the A220 d is a similar price to its competitors but feels much more high-quality.
