Hair salons and barbershops reopening during COVID-19 must implement several safety measures, including taking customer temperatures, maintaining social distancing between stations, limiting occupancy, and requiring masks. Workstations should be rearranged or limited to ensure at least 6 feet of distance. High-touch surfaces need sanitizing, and employees must wear protective equipment like masks. A case study hair salon reopened by removing furniture, adding sneeze guards, and spacing out fewer active stations using markers.

Entrance
The entrance area is the one that has undergone a
major transformation. The waiting area was, in fact,
completely rearranged: the sofas and the table with
magazines were removed, and a large built-in
wardrobe was created for storing overcoats, bags
and other customers’ personal belongings.
A table with sanitizing gel, a pack of disposable
masks, a pack of disposable gloves, a waste bin with
pedal opening and signs with the main signs to follow
in the salon have been positioned along the wall
opposite the entrance.
A dispenser with sanitizing gel and for measuring
body temperature has been placed near the entrance
door. In addition, sneeze guards in transparent,
waterproof and sanitizable material have been
mounted at the cash desk.Project created with Edificius

The actual salon has not undergone many
transformations: the number of workstations used at
the same time has only been reduced. For each
section (male and female), the styling and cutting
stations were reduced from 3 to 2 and those for
washing from 2 to 1. Specifically, the stations were
not physically removed but only the use. A column
for the distribution of sanitizing gel has been
positioned near all workstations.
Path marker stickers have been placed on the floor
to help respect path ways and the minimum
interpersonal distance.
