1. Detonation of Fat Man and Little Boy over Japan
Fat Man and Little boy were dropped on Japan as a quot;quick
way to end the warquot; because as President Roosevelt
reasoned, quot;The Japanese will be appalled by the destruction
and will fear further appalling destruction and will surrender,
quickly ending the war.quot; Apparently, the Japanese didn't
surrender.

2. Auschwitz and Birkenau
Auschwitz and Birkenau were Nazi concentration/extermination camps where people
opposing the Nazi fascism were placed and slowly worked or starved to death.
Auschwitz was the first extermination camp and possessed the most famous execution
gas chambers. Birkenau was larger than Auschwitz and designed to hold more
prisoners. It had two gas chambers instead of one. Below is a picture of Birkenau's
