We uploaded the finished documentary to
the social networking site Facebook and
received comments such as;
“I like the camera angles used”
“Music goes well with the topic and there
is a good range of interviews”
“Very professional”
“I would like to watch the full
documentary”
5. • We got a group of people to sit down and watch our documentary, listen
to the radio trailer and evaluate the newspaper advert. We took pictures
of them filling out the questionnaire and watching the documentary.
6. Although we worked as a group for the main task, we collected separate results for our
audience feedback. When tallying up the results, I calculated the average results for the
questions.
Question 1: Average answer – 4
Question 2 : Average answer – 4
Question 3 : Average answer – 4
Question 4: Average answer – 4
Question 5: for this question 74% gave positive feedback saying “it was colourful, showed my
favourite foods” etc. and 26% being negative feedback
Question 6: Average answer – 4
Question 7: Average answer 87% answered YES 13% answered NO

Question 11: Answers will be discussed in the conclusion
Question 12: All people asked said that the scheduling for the programme would be good.
Question 13: People said they would have liked to be told about topics such as; fat content,
where takeaway originated from, the ingredients used in takeaway.
Question 14: Average answer: YES
Question 15: Average answer: YES
Question 16: The majority of people said yes.
7. We asked separate questions about the print
advert, these are the questions and conclusions.
• On a scale of 1-5, 1 being not very eye catching and 5 being very eye catching,
how eye catching was our print advert?
1 2 3 4 5
• On a scale of 1-5, how much did the print advert make you want to watch the
documentary? 1 being not a lot and 5 being a lot.
1 2 3 4 5
• In conclusion to these questions and the answers we received, the average answer
for the first question was 4, which shows that people find the advert eye catching
which is important as it will encourage them to watch the documentary.
• For the second question, the results showed an average answer of 4 as well, giving
us more positive feedback, this is important as it means that because they found
the print advert interesting they will watch the documentary and hopefully find
this interesting too.
8. Conclusions
• Question 1: the answers from this question showed us that people found our
documentary very interesting but it could have been more interesting. To get a
more specific answer we could have asked what parts they found more
interesting.
• Question 4: from this question, with an average answer of 4 our audience found
our documentary to be similar to professional ones, this is a great outcome from
all the careful editing and topic choice of our documentary.
• Question 5: with this question, we received positive and negative comments such
as; “It was eye catching and included interesting facts”.
• Question 7: this question was based on our voiceover, the replies we received
said that the voiceover was well suited to the style and topic of our documentary.
The fact that we had a women as our voiceover and professional documentaries
often have males didn’t effect the outcomes.
9. • Question 8: even though the average answer for this question was yes, 6
people answered no, which shows that the topic doesn’t appeal to
everyone who saw the 5 minute clip. The other 24 who answer yes was an
interesting answer which we were very pleased with as it shows that
people enjoyed the 5 minute clip.
• Question 12: this question was asking the audience about the scheduling
of the programme, we received feedback saying that because the
documentary was suitable for all ages there was no need for it to be
shown after the watershed, so 8:30pm was a good time as older children
16+ would be awake to watch it which is the starting age of our target
audience.
• Question 14: when we asked if the topics flowed nicely from one to the
next we must have chosen the ordering well because we got positive
feedback on this question which was important to us as it made our
documentary more professional.
• Question 16: the majority of people who filled out the questionnaire
agreed in saying that the interviews were very interesting and related to
the topic of the documentary. This shows that the choice of interviews and
the questions asked were relevant to the convenience food topic. This was
important as the interviews are one of the most important aspects of a
documentary.
10. We also asked separate questions about the radio
trailer, below are the questions and conclusions
made.
• On a scale of 1-5, how much did the radio trailer make you want to watch the
documentary?
1 2 3 4 5
• The average score from this question was 5. we have leant from this that the radio
trailer is important in promoting the documentary, we had to make sure that it was
interesting and unusual so that people would be drawn to listen to it as it is
unique. We also used the same woman from the voiceover of the documentary in
the radio advert to show continuity this would mean that people who have heard
the radio trailer would recognise the voice when watching the documentary.
