Attracting my target audience ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Audience Responses I posted my magazine on Facebook and added some questions to get the response of other people, and see if they recognised what genre my media product was in. This is the response to the front cover of my magazine. I asked “Who do you think the magazine is aimed at?” , “What could have been improved?” and “What is good about my front cover?”. The response was on target as most of the replies stated that the genre of my magazine was pop/dance. They said that the use of neon colours immediately made it look like a dance magazine. One of the responses wrote that the magazine looked as though it was aimed at 17-30 year old girls. I was pleased at this because it was spot on target and showed that my audience knew who the magazine was aimed at. I feel that the design successfully showed that it was aimed at young female teenagers interested in dance and fashion.
Audience Responses I asked the audience what they thought of my contents page, good and bad. They felt that the layout was good and not too complex. The colour scheme fitted the whole magazine really well and the use of photographs was good and suitable. I feel that the response to my contents page was very positive. I feel I could have improved it by adding a bit more information, as it’s a dance magazine and I feel I could have added more things and made it look crazy. This might have made it more obvious to the audience that it was mainly a dance magazine.
Audience Responses Again, I asked the audience what they thought of my double page spread, good and bad? The response to my double page spread was very positive. The audience felt that the colour scheme had been carried on throughout the magazine. They also felt that the images used looked very smart and neat, but I could have used a few more on the left hand page.
Overall, I think that the response from Facebook audience was positive. Most of the responses showed that they realised my magazine was a dance magazine, and felt that the colours and fonts suited this genre. I think that the audience read and understand the text in the way that I intended, making it preferred reading. I also showed my magazine to a friend of mine, not telling her what it was. She immediately recognised that it was in the genre of dance music. She felt that I used good images and colours and that the magazine was aimed at 15- 20 year olds, which was near to my age range. She also said that it looked very “real”. She did add that she thought that for it to appeal more to young adults as well as teens, I could have toned down the brightness of the pink as it seemed more childish. I then showed the magazine to my brother, a 16 year old boy interested in grime music. He said that the magazine looked like a fashion magazine, and he noticed that I had feature Chase & Status on the front cover, which lead him to realise it was a dance magazine. From a boys point of view he felt that it was too pink and girly for any boys to read. This was a shame as I originally wanted my magazine to be aimed at boys as well as girls as I know many are interested in the dance industry. I feel that although his response could be classed as negative, it was somewhat a positive. The fact that he wasn’t interested in the magazine showed me that my magazine was successful in attracting the target audience that I had originally planned it to. Overall feedback
