1. How effective is the
combination of your
main product and
ancillary texts?
2. Our ancillary product and main product work with and compliment
each other. All 3 products reference each other by different means.
There is a clear continuity running between them in the form of
imagery and location.
Our digipak front cover is a still from the
music video. The location used is
recognisable to the audience as it is used
heavily throughout the music video. And,
as can be seen, the advert features the
same location due to it being the digipak
front cover.
The fact that all of these
products reference
each other visually
shows that they work
together as a strong
combination to fulfil the
goal to sell the
album/digipak and
increase fan base.
3. The continuity between all products is furthered by using the same
fonts, colour scheme, themes and overall appearance. The digipak
and advert are most noticeably similar not just because of the use of
the image, but also because of the above factors.

4. One of the primary reasons that bands have music videos is to
accompany the song in selling the image of a band. Along with the
digipak and advert, the audience are being sold not only a
song/album, but also the image that the band wish to portray of
themselves.
Our main product -
the music video -
sells the band well
image wise due to
the actors being a
similar age, having a
similar fashion sense
and also having a
similar aura.
The fact that our video contains actors who are fitting of the
indie genre means that the audience will be able to identify
with them and, as a whole, the package will appeal to them.
5. I think that for our products to be successful, it should be easy to
recognise the genre and also be easy to recognise the band from just
one ancillary product. I feel that, because we have kept continuity
and links between all products that this has been achieved.
There is no drastic change from
one product to the other; all are
recognised to be in the same
group. As our research shows,
over 90% of participants in our
survey said that our music video
suited the style of music.
