2. I want my music video to be
innovative and creative. I enjoy art
and creating things and would say I
am good at these things so I
thought my video would look best if
I made props and came at the
video at a different angle than a
simple narrative video that I initially
thought I would create. In order to
make a music video that will look
as good as I am hoping, I need
good quality resources and a lot of
time in order to create and then
film with these props. The editing
of my video will also be very time
consuming if I collect the shots I
am hoping I will.
3. I have found inspiration from art
exhibitions, TV programmes/films,
magazines and of course other
music videos. However, most of
the ideas I have thought of are
mine and would look good in the
specific context of my music video
to suit my song and the type of
media product I am hoping to
make. In the next few slides I will
be discussing the type of things I
hope to make and some of the
things I am in the process of
making now; with reference to
where the resources are from and
what I plan to do with them in the
context of my video.
4. The main thing about my music
video is that there is no identifiable
artiste featuring in it. For this
reason I am planning to make
paper bags that will act as masks. I
want them to be interesting though
so I will put something on the front
of them. When I say ‘them’, I am
referring to the two people I want to
use. The purpose of this is that
someone is answering the call.
Maybe I will have them answering
the door or bumping into each
other on the street. This brings
some narrative into the video but
also is a direct reference to the
lyrics. I am hoping this will also
bring in a comedic element and the
audience will think it is light-
hearted and enjoy this new aspect.
5. Because there are no people in my
video, I want to use Barbie’s so
that there are some faces that
relate to human emotion i.e. in the
song where the lyrics refer to
covering up her emotions or with
the word darling. I have many
Barbie’s from my childhood so will
use these. This creates humour
and is more impersonal than if I
were to use a real person but
satisfies the audience which is
applicable to the Users and
Gratifications theory. I will get a
variety of shot angles and
transitions so this looks effective
and the audience want to carry on
watching.
6. I am also planning on making my
video unique by adding some lyrics
into it. I am planning on having
‘CALL ME’ feature in the video
continuously throughout in a
variety of ways. The possible ways
of displaying it I have thought of so
far are on a phone, written on a
post it note, on a scrabble board
and with love heart sweets. Also in
reference to the line ‘call me on the
line’ I am planning on creating
letters with glitter that I bought from
Hobbycraft and hang them on a
line which may appear witty. I also
have created other things with
glitter i.e. lips/kisses and
telephones that will also feature.
7. I want my video to appear witty or
at least a little (subtly) comedic.
For this reason I am going to edit
my video in a variety of ways. I
plan on reversing some clips and
using slow motion and also making
some clips appear as if they are
faster than in reality. This is so the
audience remains entertained.
Also, I will plan on filming from a
variety of angles, positions and
other camera movements so that
the video I interesting throughout.
8. After writing down my final
ideas I feel confident that I
will be able to complete
this task to meet the
deadline and to the
highest standard that I am
capable of. I am happy
that I can learn a lot about
the software I am using in
this time and construct a
captivating and unique
music video. In order to
do this I will complete my
filming soon and update
my blog accordingly.
