This document provides 10 tips for enjoying babywearing with Joy and Joe woven wraps in the summer:
1. Wear light, breathable clothing made of cotton to keep cool. Light colors also absorb less heat.
2. Tie wraps in a gathered way for ventilation while supporting the baby.
3. Wear fewer layers under wraps to allow airflow and sweat absorption.
4. Stay hydrated by drinking water and ensuring the baby is hydrated.

2. Now that the sunshine is gradually coming
in and the weather warming up.
Officially the long winter is gone. Well, for
mums and dads who have been
wondering how best to wear their J&J
woven wraps as the weather gets warmer.
Here are a few tips...
3. light clothing
Lighter clothing in terms of thickness:
Wearing clothes with very light thickness
is a good way of ensuring that you and
your baby are well ventilated while
babywearing in the summer. 100% cotton
textiles are your top choice because they
are very breathable. Wearing very thick
clothes might cause over heating
especially when carrying a premature
baby whose body temperature regulation
skills are still developing. Our cosmic
Rainbow and FoL woven wraps are quite
lightweight so they are a great choice for
summer baby wearing plus they are also
100% cotton and they are very
breathable as well.
4. Light colours
Lighter shades of colours like
cream, olive, turquoise, lilac
etc are a great choice because
they do not absorb too much
heat. So you’re likely to feel
cooler in light coloured
clothing
5. Gather your wrap panels!
Tying your wrap in a
gathered way
ensures that you’re
not too swaddled
and your baby is still
well supported.
6. Minimal layering
Wearing less layers under your J&J
is also a great way of ensuring that
you and your baby remain cool
throughout the warm season.
Remember that when you’re out
and about while baby wearing,
those physical actions are likely to
make you generate more heat and
sweat. So not having too many
layers will ensure that there’s good
airflow and moisture is easily
absorbed from you and your baby’s
skin.
7. Good hydration
As you and baby are likely to
lose more body fluids like
sweat more, it is good
practice to ensure that you
drink adequate water and
baby is well hydrated as well.
Whatever you’d normally give
to your baby to drink, ensure
that he/she is well hydrated
8. Sun Cream
Sun cream or another skin
protection you’d normally
use. This is great
especially as the
temperatures soar to offer
both of you protection
from the sun.
9. Sun hat/head support
As well as the option of gently
tucking baby’s head under the
right or left panel, you can opt
for a little sun hat for your
little one to give additional
sun protection. Mum/Dad
shouldn’t be left out as well,
rock that sun hat too!
10. Single layer carries
Single layer carries like a
simple rucksack carry are a
good choice for your back
carries. The weave of all our
wraps are strong enough to
support your little one even
in a single layer carry. Ring
slings are a good example of
a one layer carrier and we
now have some in stock on
our website
11. Conclusively...
My answer to the question as to
whether it is okay to babywear
when the weather gets even
warmer is ‘Yes’. It is even a better
way to keep tabs on your baby’s
body temperature compared to the
huge distance between both of you
if they’re in a buggy.
As the temperatures soar, baby can
be dressed in just diapers under
your Joy&Joe baby wrap carrier.
