In its effort to raise awareness about the role
midwives play in promoting women’s health, the
American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM)
celebrates National Midwifery Week each year.
3. During the first week in October, patients, midwives,
and other health care professionals from across the
country take part in raising awareness by organizing
events, handing out promotional materials, and sharing
their personal stories through social media.
In 2015, ACNM members also celebrated National
Midwifery Week by promoting the organization’s Our
Moment of Truth campaign, which seeks to make
midwifery more accessible to American women. The
next National Midwifery Week will take place October
2-8, 2016.
