Argumentative Essay On Stress And Depression
It's so common for people to conflate stress and anxiety that the two terms are often considered
synonyms for one another. Even so, experts say that these are actually not the same thing, and the
differences are, perhaps, best enumerated in the panel discussion held at the Enloe Facebook Live
event hosted Thursday, "Keep Holiday Stress at Bay." Health professionals unpacked the differences
between anxiety, stress and depression. Additionally, new studies suggest that stress is able to
reprogram cells and that certain kinds of anxiety can be born of genetic predisposition.
Debbie Strukan, an Enloe health professional and nurse manager, hosted a 45–minute talk with Patty
Principi, an occupational therapist and also an Enloe health professional. "There's a difference
between [anxiety, stress and depression] and we'll break that down in this event," Strukan explained
in advance of the event when talking about the discussion topic. Enloe's coordinator of
communications and media, Christina Chavira spoke to the fact that this kind of misunderstanding
regarding mental health can be remedied with increased awareness, which is what the live event was
all about.
"Mental health is among the top three health issues for Butte County, according to feedback we
gather from the community, publicly available data and inpatient hospital data. Countywide,
substance abuse and mental health are a top area of focus. The Facebook live event is one helpful
tool in this area because it

Argumentative Essay On Single Parents
Chris Polito Paola Brown Eng102
25 March 2008
Single Parent Struggle
For many years, children growing up in a single parent family have been viewed as different.
Being raised by only one parent seems impossible to many yet over the decades it has become
more prevalent. In today's society many children have grown up to become emotionally stable and
successful whether they had one or two parents to show them the rocky path that life bestows
upon all human beings. The problem lies in the difference of children raised by single parents
versus children raised by both a mother and a father. Does a child need both parents? Does a young
boy need a father figure around? Does the government provide help for single parents? What role do
step–parents and step–siblings play? With much speculation, this topic has become a very intriguing
argument. What people must understand is that properly raising a child does not rely on the
structure of a family but should be more focused on the process or values that are taught to these
children as they learn to mature. Children of single parents can be just as progressive with
emotional, social and behavioral skills as those with two parents.
People claim that the only way for children to gain full emotional and behavioral skills is to be
raised by both a mother and a father. When a topic such as this one has a broad amount of variables
it is impossible to simply link these problems to only having one parent. In the article, "Single–parent
families cause juvenile crime", author Robert L. Maginnis states, "Children from single–parent
families are more likely to have behavior
Polito 1 problems because they tend to lack economic security and adequate time with parents". The
simple statement that raw criminals are products of single–parent adolescence is absurd. What this
writer must understand is that it can be extremely difficult for one parent to raise a child by
themselves for many reasons. A single–parent must work full time to be able to afford to provide for
themselves and their child. They must also be able to still have time to offer an exuberant amount
of emotional time for the well being of their child. However, even though this may seem impossible,
it can be done.

Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first
started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively
affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and
change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced
the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate
change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but
evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions.
"...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like
Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an
increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity.
According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the
Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include
change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although
numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on
whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or
Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is
neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media
and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings
of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of
these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice
in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by
nuclear submarines since the Cold War,
according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September
2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not

Should Abortion Be Legalized? Essay
The topic that I chose for my argumentative essay is about the topic of abortion. Abortion has been
a controversial topic for a very long time. The dictionary definition of abortion is "A medical
procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus"(Merriam–Webster). Many
people believe that this procedure is wrong and immoral. These people, who are categorized as
"pro–lifers", often times forget that by making abortion illegal does not mean that abortion will be
stopped. In fact by making abortion illegal you will cause the number of unsafe abortions to go up
which can cause a much higher mortality rate in women seeking an abortion. This makes the term
"pro–life" somewhat ironic because of the future implications of their...show more content...
Not only would she have no money, but she would also lose the chance to go to school and get an
education. By having an abortion she would not have to deal with all of the issues like these,
though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the fetus which
would be a decision that should be left to that person, not a law. She would hopefully learn from her
mistake and use this experience to affect her more positively than negatively.
Another reason for keeping abortion a legal procedure is that religious ideology is no foundation for
any law. Many people who are "pro–life" are so because of their religious ideology. By creating
laws based on religious ideology we begin to break down the barriers between the separation of
church and state. Instead of the law protecting all people now, it will only protect those whose
moral compass is the same as the morals within a certain religion. Unfortunately, not everyone is
religious and abides by the same morals. Just because you believe something should be a certain
way does not mean it should apply to everyone around you, because they may be in a different
situation that you are. Forcing your personal beliefs on to an individual is wrong. People have the
ability to decide by if they would like to carry out a pregnancy or not. The beliefs of others should
not be the fulcrum for her decision, but rather her own beliefs. If someone does not like abortions,
they do not

Argumentative Essay On Addiction
Addiction Rough Draft Did you know that it is statistically proven that addiction is more common
than diabetes? 10% of the human population is addicted to either a drug or alcohol. A person can
be addicted to several substances, not just drugs and alcohol. By having more options of addiction,
this will increase the percentage of addicts. There is so many scenarios to addiction that anyone
around could be an addict without realizing it. Several people may believe addiction is something
that can easily fixed or they may think it is rare. What people do not know is that addiction is a
situation much more serious and goes in depth further than they may expect. It's a desire that no
one wants. It is a condition that is difficult to escape once you begin. Addicts can be so in depth
with addiction that they can not get out of it. Addiction is an action that comes with negative yet
impactful outcomes. Addiction can affect those who are around especially family members. Fit
will affect other by the actions you do. Aggression can develop and people will begin to isolate.
No one likes to be around an aggressive person. An addict can also have mood swings. Drugs or
alcohol, for example, already affect your mentally when not sober. Family members can feel like
they are the ones to be blamed. Family supports and loves one another. By seeing a family member
fall into bad habits, it would be logical that they would feel like they have failed as family. Not only
would they feel like they

Argumentative Essay About Drug Abuse
Drug abuse is bad because it spoils people's lives, increases drug access, and has serious
consequences and effects on places the drugs are used. There are drugs everywhere they go, there
is not one single place, that anyone could go to and there is not many person who is not using drugs
or had drugs in their system. Teens between the age of fifteen to eighteen have problems withdrug
addiction; teens who start to use drugs at a young age tend to have a problem with them once they
get older. Eighty percent of the teens who use drugs do not get to graduate high school. The
prevalence of drug use has gone up in the past years due to the people that keep consuming them.
The United States has many programs to help kids with drug abuse because they want the best
for them. Most programs may work, maybe not forever, but temporarily and at least many
teenagers have stopped doing drugs and have rehabilitated themselves. Many teens tend to start
drugs because maybe someone in their family consumes them or the friends they have around
them do. Many times the people they are surrounded with tend to have a big affect on what they
do. Most teenagers go to drugs to help them forget the problems that they have at home. Problems
at home can include their parents fighting, arguing, and eventually splitting up and sometimes
intimacy is not the only problem or the cause of that. Sometimes problems with money can split
people up. Drugs cannot fix any problems going on, it only makes people feel better for a few
hours and after drugs, wear off it can cause a person to be even more depressed than before. Many
high school students use drugs for various reasons. Reasons that high schoolers use drugs are
mainly pointless because they mostly want to fit in with the "cool kids" and that makes some kids
make the wrong choices so that they are not humiliated by the others. In recent years, about 30
percent of seniors in high schools use drugs and about 65 percent of kids in high school that are
sophomores use drugs (Cole 54).
There are many ways to get a hold of drugs; some ways are easy and some ways are hard. Easy ways
to get a hold of drugs are if the drug she want to consume is legal. Some states that have

Argumentative Essay: Should Teachers Be Paid?
Public school teachers around the United States are not earning fair pay. When compared with other
fields such as computer science, engineering, or the medical field, teachers earn among the lowest
pay grade of all jobs. The thought of living on a low–income frightens many potentially amazing
and well qualified students from pursuing a degree in education. Teacher pay is beginning to affect
students education as well; therefore, causing children to not obtain the education they deserve.
Teachers should be receiving more money because valuable teachers are walking away and superior
education begins with quality teachers.
First of all, applicants are opting out of becoming teachers because of the stress and strain it puts
on their life. Teachers do not get enough credit for how much work they do between grading papers,
dealing with multiple personalities a day, and the amount of disrespect they encounter it is hard
even beginning to imagine. Additionally, financial stress can be found in teachers across the
country. The low wages of becoming an educator are forcing teachers to get second jobs just to
make ends meet. According to Alia Wong, an education writer for the Atlantic News, countless
stories have been told about professionals who have awards and recognition for the work they do in
their district,...show more content...
Therefore, teachers do not make as much money because they have already received the benefit of
not paying so much for college. While this is true for some fields, a bachelor's degree program in
education typically ranges from $25,000 at state universities to $100,000 or more at private
universities (Cost Helper). This is comparative to an average engineering degree ($26,485) for state
universities which is actually not that much more money to get the degree, yet the engineers are
earning double and sometimes even triple the salary that a typical public school teacher

English Composition
Language and Identity
Who am I? What is it that defines that personality? Anzaldua argues in her essay that the language is
what defines one's identity. Language is indeed an important component of culture, and culture is
known to be a crucial definer of identity. People use language to connect to their identities and
communicating their realities and values to themselves and to the world around them... In other
words, language is important because people use it to express their thoughts and beliefs. "People
evolve a language in order to describe and thus control their circumstances" (Baldwin 109).
Consequently, language does not necessarily define identity as much as identity defines language.

Tan clearly mentions in her story that she had to speak two different languages to her Asian mom
who had her own made up English. Tan relates to both her Asian descent and American belongings
by using her mom's made up English to speak with her mom, and uses the proper English to give
lectures and speak to most Americans. On the same grounds, Anzaldua learned through her life
experiences to frequently use multiple types of English, and many other Dialects of proper Spanish
and Mexican Spanish. She uses each language to communicate, connect and affiliate to specific
people according to their background. This proves that the assumption that language defines culture
and identity fails. What happens to the people who speak many languages, do they not get the
benefit and pride of belonging to a certain community? Rather the contrary, they belong to multiple
communities and they choose which group they want to communicate with and with which
language. People have the ability to switch from a language to another to be part of a group and this
supports the idea that identity defines and shapes language, and not the opposite.
Language is used as a way to identify with people, but it is also used to distinguish between them.
People use language to differentiate between people and associate them to a specific culture and
community according to the language they speak. America is known for having a diverse

Argumentative Essay On Suicide
If you bring up the subject of suicide in a room of people, it is likely that the individuals will
become quite, begin to become uncomfortable. Why is this? Is it because of the aspect of death?
Is it the ways it is done? Society may say it is a wrong and selfish act, or that a person is not
considering others and therefore it is erroneous. We live in a society where mental health problems
are rampant, societal issues take over our daily lives and out everyday stresses impact our health,
yet our understanding of the subject that is to be avoided and carries a stigma with it that affects the
way people see those who have attempted or completed suicide. When deciding if suicide is an
ethical or morally accepted action, we must take many factors into consideration. Some of these
factors may include the culture and society in which we live and our knowledge of psychological
and biological causes. With these factors in mind, we can then adopt our own personal philosophies
on whether suicide is an ethical or moral act. While not all individuals are going to agree on a
consensus, it is important to consider others opinions and be aware of them while discussing the
subject, even if it is uncomfortable.
Definition
The term suicide is not easily defined in that it many factors play a role on what is considered an
act of suicide. An informal definition can be that it is the deliberate and voluntary act of taking ones
own life. Even with the simplest definition, it still can present

Persuasive Essay On STEM Education
Everyone wants what is best for their children, right? If that is true, then schools need to start
preparing their students for the challenges they will meet in college and the skills to overcome them.
This is best done through the presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in
middle and high schools. Through Wisconsin schools furthering their focus on STEM with
extracurriculars, students will gain vital skills that are necessary for human progression,
problem–solving and time management skills that can be used in real life, and the students learn
how they can apply what is being taught in the classroom to real obstacles and challenges. It is
clear that STEM is a rapidly growing and advancing field that is needed for our human progression.
There are so many different professions that fall under STEM education and many of them impact
the world every day. According to former PresidentBarack Obama "[Science] is more than a school
subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the world, a critical
way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that
world" (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Here, former President Obama is talking
about how important science is as more than just a school subject; science can be taken out of
school and used to impact many people and change the world. Some may say that there have been
other fields in history that became very popular but

Argumentative Essay On Fasting
Accounts of fasting can be traced back thousands of years. The primary purpose of fasting in those
days was to flee from the distraction of eating, to give your full attention to something else, often
through the form of prayer. However, fasting is becoming increasingly popular in a different kind of
way. Today many scientists and doctors are studying fasting as a type of healing process, not just
mentally, but also physically. These beneficial effects have been seen in the treatment of weight loss,
mental health, cancer, skin disease, and a host of other ailments. While fasting may not be safe for a
select few, the possibility of life changing benefits warrants everyone's consideration.
Many people refer to the problem of overweight Americans as an epidemic, and rightfully so. "The
National Center for Health Statistics (2002) estimated that in 1999, 61% of U.S. adults were
overweight" (Dean 303). The main reason so many Americans are overweight is that food is
everywhere. We see advertisements for food constantly, such as commercials, billboards, food
trucks, restaurants, and grocery stores. With so much food around us, it can be hard not to want
to eat all the time. This reality of food everywhere is a very new concept. People have not had
access to food in the way they do today ever before in history. Fasting has been shown to quickly
and effectively get weight off.
Dr. Rex Russell describes a three week fast conducted by Dr. George Thampy, a biochemist at the

Argumentative Essay On Anxiety
"Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy." (www.healthy place.com)
Many people have trouble accomplishing what they want to do in life because of health issues. A
main health issue people suffer from is anxiety. There are different types of anxiety disorders you
can have. Each one of them hold you back from doing what you want to succeed in life and may
even cause you to make bad choices.
Anxiety is losing yourself from reality and being disconnected from the present moment, other

After talking about how anxiety can keep you from accomplishing life goals and how its a big
health issue, here are the different types of anxiety. Some people can say all they have is anxiety
but they all dont have the same disorder. There are many different types you can have. There is
generalized anxiety, phobias, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive, and panic disorder.
Anxiety – part of the body's natural reaction to stress – can even be helpful at times, making you
more alert and ready for action. But anxiety disorders differ from normal feelings of anxiousness.
When feelings of fear or nervousness become excessive, difficult to control, or interfere with daily
life, it's called an anxiety disorder. (www.everydayhealth.com) . This evidence relates to the types
of anxiety because it is telling how anxiety can make you feel and act.
Some people may say that anxiety isn't the main cause of people not wanting to accomplish
things or why they have bad health issues. They say it could also be depression or how they are

Argumentative Essay About Anime
Do you watch cartoons? I do. Not bugs bunny; I'm talking about anime. Do you know what that is?
Anime is, simply put, animation that's made in Japan. I'll give you some examples of anime that
you might know. Speed Racer, Hello Kitty, Pokemon, RoboTech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and
a lot of the cartoons you find on Cartoon Network qualify as well, particularly Adult Swim.
Thankfully our country has gotten the rights to translate the stories from Japanese to English,
because the storylines in anime are really good. Often they're better than what Hollywood shovels
into your brain.
That's basically what anime is. Now let's talk about what it's not.
Anime is not a genre; it's an art form; a medium. From now on I want you to think of anime as
being equated with movies, books, music, etc; all the entertainment media. Just like you have movies
for kids, movies for teens, adults, so it is with anime.
All your entertainment comes in 31 flavors, right? Comedy, horror, drama, suspense, action, etc.
You file similar movies on the same shelf in the store, don't you? But you shouldn't be putting all
anime on the same shelf because anime is not a genre. It's a medium, like movies are a medium,
like books are a medium. A medium can have any genre of entertainment in it; well so can anime.
Anime is not all sex and violence as some people will tell you. When I hear someone say that anime
is sex and violence, that immediately tells me that they watched probably one particular anime show

animals, poachers have not yet stopped. Therefore penalties for poaching should be severe.Poaching

poachers are not alone on this there are people helping, which if we want to get rid of it, it will take
time.
Our society thinks it's a bad thing, but people who do it are doing it for a reason. They will say
they are doing it for profit and/or for food. People have the right to think that it is causing animals
go extinct, but there will always be a counter claim from another person arguing that it's not true.
For every argument, there is a counter claim and in this case, the topic is poaching.Poaching is very

for a lot of profit. What they don't realize is how much damage they are actually

Failure is the step towards success. Do you agree?
It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a
motivator for a person to keep trying until the objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled.
Failure often times leads a person to feel helpless, disappointed and depressed. However, one should
not allow this to set them back in trying to achieve the ultimate aim one has set out to do. Failure in

Another disadvantage of being an only is that he lacks companionship. He has no brother or sister
to confide in. Growing up as an only child can be very lonely. If you have siblings you will have

and comfort each in times of trouble. The elder siblings learn to care for the younger ones and the
younger ones learn to respect their elder siblings and have someone to look up to besides their
parents. You are more balanced person than an only child. Another advantage of having siblings is
that your parents' attention is divided among your siblings. As a result, there is less pressure on you
to perform well, be it academically or in other areas. Having siblings also means that you have

Argumentative Essay On Anxiety Disorder
Anxiety disorders are some of the most prominent mental disorders that people face. Anyone can

Throughout the world there are many people who suffer from anxiety disorders, a few of the most

Argumentative Essay On Invasive Species
With the environment, as one of the most commonly discussed topics today, invasive species are
often included in these discussions. However, many seem to participate in these conversations with
limited background on the topic. It seems that non–native species are unfairly given the title of
'invasive' for a variety of reasons which I plan to explore. As a starting point, it is important to
understand the various titles that are allocated to non–native species that have been introduced into a
new ecosystem. Under the umbrella of non–native species, there are multiple classifications given to
wildlife found in a region different from where the species originates. The broadest of these
classifications is non–native or exotic. Non–native is very much a cut and dried description; the
species is found in an area that it is not native to. Beyond non–native is established exotic. A species
can be distinguished as established exotic if it is first considered a non–native species, then can
establish a breeding population. In short, this means that the species must not only be new to an
environment, but can then survive and succeed as a species in that environment. Last, there is
invasive. To be considered aninvasive species, the species must fit three criteria: one, the species is
not native to the environment it is found in. Two, the species has been able to reproduce and has
created a viable breeding population in the new environment. And finally, the species has begun to

Argumentative Essay On Special Education
Introducation
Special Education is a topic of controversy with many advocates fighting for the justice children and
adults with special needs so rightfully deserve. With laws being passed and modified so frequently, it
is important that the educators being brought into the world have an extensive knowledge of the
developmental needs of many different types of children. With this knowledge and their constant
measures to keep up to date with the fast–moving world of education, they will be able to deliver an
appropriate atmosphere that is in accordance with the law that ensures ethical practices and
guidelines are always being followed.
Legislative, Thoerietical, Historical
Our country's Legislative system has set many laws in place to protect the educational rights of all
students, which allows for students to have a greater opportunity for educational success with
funding levels varying between the states. Hooper and Umansky's book, Young Children with
Special Needs, states that the majority of early childhood intervention programs began under the
"umbrella of Maternal and Child Health (MCH)," which was put into place in 1935 in accordance
with the Social Security Act. The Americans with Disabilities Act and theIndividuals with
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are two programs stemming from this historical piece of
legislation. The Americans with Disabilities Act was an anti–discrimination law that allowed for
more students to have access to certain facilities and resources giving them a better chance to
succeed in their education. IDEA made it mandatory for the state to provide special education
service programs for children between the ages of three and five. The parents with children who
are included in IDEA typically receive grants to help them fund their child's education. Another
piece of legislation that is widely utilized in classrooms today is the Individualized Family
Service Plan (IFSP). This plan develops a plan of action for the family with children that receive
special education services and allows the information to further assist the child beyond school
grounds. In use today is the Affordable Care Act (2012) that allowed for programs to be funded that
look to prevent and care for children

France. It was written shortly after World War II. The atrocities committed by Nazi Germany

Rights. Meaning everyone of any race, color, gender, language, religion, national or social origin,
property or birth should have the rights and freedoms in this country. Therefore, people belonging
to any country with different kinds of governments will have these rights and freedoms. Refugees
should be respected to have rights and the same respect we get as Americans. As America, we are
known for having rights for everyone. When refugees are coming here they are coming here for a

Topics For Argumentative Essay

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Stress And Depression It's so common for people to conflate stress and anxiety that the two terms are often considered synonyms for one another. Even so, experts say that these are actually not the same thing, and the differences are, perhaps, best enumerated in the panel discussion held at the Enloe Facebook Live event hosted Thursday, "Keep Holiday Stress at Bay." Health professionals unpacked the differences between anxiety, stress and depression. Additionally, new studies suggest that stress is able to reprogram cells and that certain kinds of anxiety can be born of genetic predisposition. Debbie Strukan, an Enloe health professional and nurse manager, hosted a 45–minute talk with Patty Principi, an occupational therapist and also an Enloe health professional. "There's a difference between [anxiety, stress and depression] and we'll break that down in this event," Strukan explained in advance of the event when talking about the discussion topic. Enloe's coordinator of communications and media, Christina Chavira spoke to the fact that this kind of misunderstanding regarding mental health can be remedied with increased awareness, which is what the live event was all about. "Mental health is among the top three health issues for Butte County, according to feedback we gather from the community, publicly available data and inpatient hospital data. Countywide, substance abuse and mental health are a top area of focus. The Facebook live event is one helpful tool in this area because it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Argumentative Essay On Single Parents Chris Polito Paola Brown Eng102 25 March 2008 Single Parent Struggle For many years, children growing up in a single parent family have been viewed as different. Being raised by only one parent seems impossible to many yet over the decades it has become more prevalent. In today's society many children have grown up to become emotionally stable and successful whether they had one or two parents to show them the rocky path that life bestows upon all human beings. The problem lies in the difference of children raised by single parents versus children raised by both a mother and a father. Does a child need both parents? Does a young boy need a father figure around? Does the government provide help for single parents? What role do step–parents and step–siblings play? With much speculation, this topic has become a very intriguing argument. What people must understand is that properly raising a child does not rely on the structure of a family but should be more focused on the process or values that are taught to these children as they learn to mature. Children of single parents can be just as progressive with emotional, social and behavioral skills as those with two parents. People claim that the only way for children to gain full emotional and behavioral skills is to be raised by both a mother and a father. When a topic such as this one has a broad amount of variables it is impossible to simply link these problems to only having one parent. In the article, "Single–parent families cause juvenile crime", author Robert L. Maginnis states, "Children from single–parent families are more likely to have behavior Polito 1 problems because they tend to lack economic security and adequate time with parents". The simple statement that raw criminals are products of single–parent adolescence is absurd. What this writer must understand is that it can be extremely difficult for one parent to raise a child by themselves for many reasons. A single–parent must work full time to be able to afford to provide for themselves and their child. They must also be able to still have time to offer an exuberant amount of emotional time for the well being of their child. However, even though this may seem impossible, it can be done. As this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Argumentative Essay On Climate Change Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions. "...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by nuclear submarines since the Cold War, according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September 2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Should Abortion Be Legalized? Essay The topic that I chose for my argumentative essay is about the topic of abortion. Abortion has been a controversial topic for a very long time. The dictionary definition of abortion is "A medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus"(Merriam–Webster). Many people believe that this procedure is wrong and immoral. These people, who are categorized as "pro–lifers", often times forget that by making abortion illegal does not mean that abortion will be stopped. In fact by making abortion illegal you will cause the number of unsafe abortions to go up which can cause a much higher mortality rate in women seeking an abortion. This makes the term "pro–life" somewhat ironic because of the future implications of their...show more content... Not only would she have no money, but she would also lose the chance to go to school and get an education. By having an abortion she would not have to deal with all of the issues like these, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the fetus which would be a decision that should be left to that person, not a law. She would hopefully learn from her mistake and use this experience to affect her more positively than negatively. Another reason for keeping abortion a legal procedure is that religious ideology is no foundation for any law. Many people who are "pro–life" are so because of their religious ideology. By creating laws based on religious ideology we begin to break down the barriers between the separation of church and state. Instead of the law protecting all people now, it will only protect those whose moral compass is the same as the morals within a certain religion. Unfortunately, not everyone is religious and abides by the same morals. Just because you believe something should be a certain way does not mean it should apply to everyone around you, because they may be in a different situation that you are. Forcing your personal beliefs on to an individual is wrong. People have the ability to decide by if they would like to carry out a pregnancy or not. The beliefs of others should not be the fulcrum for her decision, but rather her own beliefs. If someone does not like abortions, they do not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Argumentative Essay On Addiction Addiction Rough Draft Did you know that it is statistically proven that addiction is more common than diabetes? 10% of the human population is addicted to either a drug or alcohol. A person can be addicted to several substances, not just drugs and alcohol. By having more options of addiction, this will increase the percentage of addicts. There is so many scenarios to addiction that anyone around could be an addict without realizing it. Several people may believe addiction is something that can easily fixed or they may think it is rare. What people do not know is that addiction is a situation much more serious and goes in depth further than they may expect. It's a desire that no one wants. It is a condition that is difficult to escape once you begin. Addicts can be so in depth with addiction that they can not get out of it. Addiction is an action that comes with negative yet impactful outcomes. Addiction can affect those who are around especially family members. Fit will affect other by the actions you do. Aggression can develop and people will begin to isolate. No one likes to be around an aggressive person. An addict can also have mood swings. Drugs or alcohol, for example, already affect your mentally when not sober. Family members can feel like they are the ones to be blamed. Family supports and loves one another. By seeing a family member fall into bad habits, it would be logical that they would feel like they have failed as family. Not only would they feel like they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Argumentative Essay About Drug Abuse Drug abuse is bad because it spoils people's lives, increases drug access, and has serious consequences and effects on places the drugs are used. There are drugs everywhere they go, there is not one single place, that anyone could go to and there is not many person who is not using drugs or had drugs in their system. Teens between the age of fifteen to eighteen have problems withdrug addiction; teens who start to use drugs at a young age tend to have a problem with them once they get older. Eighty percent of the teens who use drugs do not get to graduate high school. The prevalence of drug use has gone up in the past years due to the people that keep consuming them. The United States has many programs to help kids with drug abuse because they want the best for them. Most programs may work, maybe not forever, but temporarily and at least many teenagers have stopped doing drugs and have rehabilitated themselves. Many teens tend to start drugs because maybe someone in their family consumes them or the friends they have around them do. Many times the people they are surrounded with tend to have a big affect on what they do. Most teenagers go to drugs to help them forget the problems that they have at home. Problems at home can include their parents fighting, arguing, and eventually splitting up and sometimes intimacy is not the only problem or the cause of that. Sometimes problems with money can split people up. Drugs cannot fix any problems going on, it only makes people feel better for a few hours and after drugs, wear off it can cause a person to be even more depressed than before. Many high school students use drugs for various reasons. Reasons that high schoolers use drugs are mainly pointless because they mostly want to fit in with the "cool kids" and that makes some kids make the wrong choices so that they are not humiliated by the others. In recent years, about 30 percent of seniors in high schools use drugs and about 65 percent of kids in high school that are sophomores use drugs (Cole 54). There are many ways to get a hold of drugs; some ways are easy and some ways are hard. Easy ways to get a hold of drugs are if the drug she want to consume is legal. Some states that have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Argumentative Essay: Should Teachers Be Paid? Public school teachers around the United States are not earning fair pay. When compared with other fields such as computer science, engineering, or the medical field, teachers earn among the lowest pay grade of all jobs. The thought of living on a low–income frightens many potentially amazing and well qualified students from pursuing a degree in education. Teacher pay is beginning to affect students education as well; therefore, causing children to not obtain the education they deserve. Teachers should be receiving more money because valuable teachers are walking away and superior education begins with quality teachers. First of all, applicants are opting out of becoming teachers because of the stress and strain it puts on their life. Teachers do not get enough credit for how much work they do between grading papers, dealing with multiple personalities a day, and the amount of disrespect they encounter it is hard even beginning to imagine. Additionally, financial stress can be found in teachers across the country. The low wages of becoming an educator are forcing teachers to get second jobs just to make ends meet. According to Alia Wong, an education writer for the Atlantic News, countless stories have been told about professionals who have awards and recognition for the work they do in their district,...show more content... Therefore, teachers do not make as much money because they have already received the benefit of not paying so much for college. While this is true for some fields, a bachelor's degree program in education typically ranges from $25,000 at state universities to $100,000 or more at private universities (Cost Helper). This is comparative to an average engineering degree ($26,485) for state universities which is actually not that much more money to get the degree, yet the engineers are earning double and sometimes even triple the salary that a typical public school teacher Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Argumentative Essay English Composition Language and Identity Who am I? What is it that defines that personality? Anzaldua argues in her essay that the language is what defines one's identity. Language is indeed an important component of culture, and culture is known to be a crucial definer of identity. People use language to connect to their identities and communicating their realities and values to themselves and to the world around them... In other words, language is important because people use it to express their thoughts and beliefs. "People evolve a language in order to describe and thus control their circumstances" (Baldwin 109). Consequently, language does not necessarily define identity as much as identity defines language. People decide on...show more content... Tan clearly mentions in her story that she had to speak two different languages to her Asian mom who had her own made up English. Tan relates to both her Asian descent and American belongings by using her mom's made up English to speak with her mom, and uses the proper English to give lectures and speak to most Americans. On the same grounds, Anzaldua learned through her life experiences to frequently use multiple types of English, and many other Dialects of proper Spanish and Mexican Spanish. She uses each language to communicate, connect and affiliate to specific people according to their background. This proves that the assumption that language defines culture and identity fails. What happens to the people who speak many languages, do they not get the benefit and pride of belonging to a certain community? Rather the contrary, they belong to multiple communities and they choose which group they want to communicate with and with which language. People have the ability to switch from a language to another to be part of a group and this supports the idea that identity defines and shapes language, and not the opposite. Language is used as a way to identify with people, but it is also used to distinguish between them. People use language to differentiate between people and associate them to a specific culture and community according to the language they speak. America is known for having a diverse Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Argumentative Essay On Suicide If you bring up the subject of suicide in a room of people, it is likely that the individuals will become quite, begin to become uncomfortable. Why is this? Is it because of the aspect of death? Is it the ways it is done? Society may say it is a wrong and selfish act, or that a person is not considering others and therefore it is erroneous. We live in a society where mental health problems are rampant, societal issues take over our daily lives and out everyday stresses impact our health, yet our understanding of the subject that is to be avoided and carries a stigma with it that affects the way people see those who have attempted or completed suicide. When deciding if suicide is an ethical or morally accepted action, we must take many factors into consideration. Some of these factors may include the culture and society in which we live and our knowledge of psychological and biological causes. With these factors in mind, we can then adopt our own personal philosophies on whether suicide is an ethical or moral act. While not all individuals are going to agree on a consensus, it is important to consider others opinions and be aware of them while discussing the subject, even if it is uncomfortable. Definition The term suicide is not easily defined in that it many factors play a role on what is considered an act of suicide. An informal definition can be that it is the deliberate and voluntary act of taking ones own life. Even with the simplest definition, it still can present Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On STEM Education Everyone wants what is best for their children, right? If that is true, then schools need to start preparing their students for the challenges they will meet in college and the skills to overcome them. This is best done through the presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in middle and high schools. Through Wisconsin schools furthering their focus on STEM with extracurriculars, students will gain vital skills that are necessary for human progression, problem–solving and time management skills that can be used in real life, and the students learn how they can apply what is being taught in the classroom to real obstacles and challenges. It is clear that STEM is a rapidly growing and advancing field that is needed for our human progression. There are so many different professions that fall under STEM education and many of them impact the world every day. According to former PresidentBarack Obama "[Science] is more than a school subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world" (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Here, former President Obama is talking about how important science is as more than just a school subject; science can be taken out of school and used to impact many people and change the world. Some may say that there have been other fields in history that became very popular but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Argumentative Essay On Fasting Accounts of fasting can be traced back thousands of years. The primary purpose of fasting in those days was to flee from the distraction of eating, to give your full attention to something else, often through the form of prayer. However, fasting is becoming increasingly popular in a different kind of way. Today many scientists and doctors are studying fasting as a type of healing process, not just mentally, but also physically. These beneficial effects have been seen in the treatment of weight loss, mental health, cancer, skin disease, and a host of other ailments. While fasting may not be safe for a select few, the possibility of life changing benefits warrants everyone's consideration. Many people refer to the problem of overweight Americans as an epidemic, and rightfully so. "The National Center for Health Statistics (2002) estimated that in 1999, 61% of U.S. adults were overweight" (Dean 303). The main reason so many Americans are overweight is that food is everywhere. We see advertisements for food constantly, such as commercials, billboards, food trucks, restaurants, and grocery stores. With so much food around us, it can be hard not to want to eat all the time. This reality of food everywhere is a very new concept. People have not had access to food in the way they do today ever before in history. Fasting has been shown to quickly and effectively get weight off. Dr. Rex Russell describes a three week fast conducted by Dr. George Thampy, a biochemist at the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Argumentative Essay On Anxiety "Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy." (www.healthy place.com) Many people have trouble accomplishing what they want to do in life because of health issues. A main health issue people suffer from is anxiety. There are different types of anxiety disorders you can have. Each one of them hold you back from doing what you want to succeed in life and may even cause you to make bad choices. • 13. Argumentative Essay About Anime Do you watch cartoons? I do. Not bugs bunny; I'm talking about anime. Do you know what that is? Anime is, simply put, animation that's made in Japan. I'll give you some examples of anime that you might know. Speed Racer, Hello Kitty, Pokemon, RoboTech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and a lot of the cartoons you find on Cartoon Network qualify as well, particularly Adult Swim. Thankfully our country has gotten the rights to translate the stories from Japanese to English, because the storylines in anime are really good. Often they're better than what Hollywood shovels into your brain. That's basically what anime is. Now let's talk about what it's not. Anime is not a genre; it's an art form; a medium. From now on I want you to think of anime as being equated with movies, books, music, etc; all the entertainment media. Just like you have movies for kids, movies for teens, adults, so it is with anime. All your entertainment comes in 31 flavors, right? Comedy, horror, drama, suspense, action, etc. You file similar movies on the same shelf in the store, don't you? But you shouldn't be putting all anime on the same shelf because anime is not a genre. It's a medium, like movies are a medium, like books are a medium. A medium can have any genre of entertainment in it; well so can anime. Anime is not all sex and violence as some people will tell you. When I hear someone say that anime is sex and violence, that immediately tells me that they watched probably one particular anime show Get more content on HelpWriting.net

By depending on the black market to help sell animal parts, it gives out an idea that this is illegal. In fact, The World Book Web claims that Poachers use animal remains in the trading for weapons and narcotics. Furthermore, this shows how poachers don't just sell but buy illegally. Doubtless, poachers are not alone on this there are people helping, which if we want to get rid of it, it will take time. Our society thinks it's a bad thing, but people who do it are doing it for a reason. They will say they are doing it for profit and/or for food. People have the right to think that it is causing animals go extinct, but there will always be a counter claim from another person arguing that it's not true. For every argument, there is a counter claim and in this case, the topic is poaching.Poaching is very severe and harmful to the environment while others might say that poaching is great because it sells for a lot of profit. • 15. Argumentative Essays Failure is the step towards success. Do you agree? It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a motivator for a person to keep trying until the objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled. Failure often times leads a person to feel helpless, disappointed and depressed. However, one should not allow this to set them back in trying to achieve the ultimate aim one has set out to do. Failure in the beginning can often be a powerful incentive to reassess one's position in wanting to achieve the particular aims; to analyse whether the purpose is worth the trouble the person has to undergo and the whether the obstacles are surmountable. Practical and...show more content... Another disadvantage of being an only is that he lacks companionship. He has no brother or sister to confide in. Growing up as an only child can be very lonely. If you have siblings you will have to share everything, so you get less; but you also get less of the bad things. Siblings can support and comfort each in times of trouble. The elder siblings learn to care for the younger ones and the younger ones learn to respect their elder siblings and have someone to look up to besides their parents. You are more balanced person than an only child. Another advantage of having siblings is that your parents' attention is divided among your siblings. As a result, there is less pressure on you to perform well, be it academically or in other areas. Having siblings also means that you have companionship, the joy of caring and sharing, and security. I, personally, am happy that I am not an only child. Students should not take up part time jobs. Discuss. Nowadays, students love to have part–time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the teenagers nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Argumentative Essay On Invasive Species With the environment, as one of the most commonly discussed topics today, invasive species are often included in these discussions. However, many seem to participate in these conversations with limited background on the topic. It seems that non–native species are unfairly given the title of 'invasive' for a variety of reasons which I plan to explore. As a starting point, it is important to understand the various titles that are allocated to non–native species that have been introduced into a new ecosystem. Under the umbrella of non–native species, there are multiple classifications given to wildlife found in a region different from where the species originates. The broadest of these classifications is non–native or exotic. Non–native is very much a cut and dried description; the species is found in an area that it is not native to. Beyond non–native is established exotic. A species can be distinguished as established exotic if it is first considered a non–native species, then can establish a breeding population. In short, this means that the species must not only be new to an environment, but can then survive and succeed as a species in that environment. Last, there is invasive. To be considered aninvasive species, the species must fit three criteria: one, the species is not native to the environment it is found in. Two, the species has been able to reproduce and has created a viable breeding population in the new environment. And finally, the species has begun to cause Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Argumentative Essay On Special Education Introducation Special Education is a topic of controversy with many advocates fighting for the justice children and adults with special needs so rightfully deserve. With laws being passed and modified so frequently, it is important that the educators being brought into the world have an extensive knowledge of the developmental needs of many different types of children. With this knowledge and their constant measures to keep up to date with the fast–moving world of education, they will be able to deliver an appropriate atmosphere that is in accordance with the law that ensures ethical practices and guidelines are always being followed. Legislative, Thoerietical, Historical Our country's Legislative system has set many laws in place to protect the educational rights of all students, which allows for students to have a greater opportunity for educational success with funding levels varying between the states. Hooper and Umansky's book, Young Children with Special Needs, states that the majority of early childhood intervention programs began under the "umbrella of Maternal and Child Health (MCH)," which was put into place in 1935 in accordance with the Social Security Act. The Americans with Disabilities Act and theIndividuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are two programs stemming from this historical piece of legislation. The Americans with Disabilities Act was an anti–discrimination law that allowed for more students to have access to certain facilities and resources giving them a better chance to succeed in their education. IDEA made it mandatory for the state to provide special education service programs for children between the ages of three and five. The parents with children who are included in IDEA typically receive grants to help them fund their child's education. Another piece of legislation that is widely utilized in classrooms today is the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). This plan develops a plan of action for the family with children that receive special education services and allows the information to further assist the child beyond school grounds. In use today is the Affordable Care Act (2012) that allowed for programs to be funded that look to prevent and care for children Get more content on HelpWriting.net
