Food Culture Essay
Factors Influencing Food Habits and Culture Eating food is essential for all of us, it keep us alive
and also gives us enjoyment at the same time. Food can be defined as any substance that can be
metabolized by an animal to give energy and build tissue. (ilearn) In ancient time, when people feel
hungry, they eat. However, as human history keep developing and evolving, we have a higher
standard on choosing food that we like to eat nowadays. In this paper, we are going to evaluate
factors that are influencing our food habits and food culture. Those factors can be divided into two
main categories, internal factors (individual preference and values) and external factors
(geographical, religion, social, economic and political). Internal...show more content...
Another example would be Chinese like to eat hot pot in winter to keep them warm. In the
northern part of China, there are more spicy dishes than the southern part of China. This is
because eating spicy food will keep people warm. In costal region, there is more seafood than the
inland region. The reason is because it is easier to get fresh seafood in costal region than in the
inland region. Japan is an island surrounded by sea, and that is why eating seafood is famous in
Japan. Some locations are better for growing specific food, for example China have the climate
advantage in growing tea, and France have the advantage in growing wine. Religion is another
external factors influencing food habits and food culture. Different culture has different religion,
different religion has different custom and food is an important part of a religion. Some religion
such as Muslims, consider eating pork as a dirty food, and people should not eat them. Buddhism
do not recommend members to eat meat, because they think that is cruel to kill an animal and that
we should respect them so we should not eat them. Therefore, a lot of Buddhism followers are
vegetarians. Hinduism followers do not eat cow because they think that cows are scarce. People
who believe in a religion will follow the rules of the religion, so this will influence their food habit.
Some religions do not have rules about food, but they have specific food to eat.

Food Insecurity Essay
Food Insecurity Nutrition is important for healthy life. Many people are still hungry around the
world even though there is mass production of food. This is because of unhealthy food
production. In today's world we see many obese people because of high intake of high fat and
cholesterol containing food. It is important to have a healthy diet/ nutritional intake for individuals
to have good foundation for physical and mental health. Now a day's healthy food is getting more
expensive rather than unhealthy food. Poor people are forced to eat unhealthy food, while the rich
can afford to eat whatever the please. Food insecurity is caused by individuals not having healthy

Even in developed country like The United States of America food security is a major problem. In
the article "Association of Household and Community Characteristics with Adult and Child Food
Insecurity among Mexican–Origin Households in Colonias along the Texas–Mexico Border" author
Sharkey et.al supports that over population of Mexicans, living in colonies along the Texas– Mexico
border causes food insecurity. Because of the Overpopulation on the texas–mexico border there is
low availability of healthy food, causing people to eat junk food which lacks of nutritional value,
and has high amount of sugar, fat, cholesterol. Food insecurity causes health issues such as obesity,
diabetes, heart disease, and early mortality among young single mothers. According to author
Christine A. Stevens young single mothers are affected by food insecurity in two ways "first, the
stress of food insecurity can lead to compounding issues of depression for this mother, second, food
choice." Factors that assist these problems are socioeconomic status and the ability to obtain
adequate nutrition. These young single mothers do not have enough money to give nutritional food
to their families. With limited money they do not have a choice for nutritional food and according to
Stevens are forced to buy "inexpensive, high fat, high carbohydrates food" (Stevens 163). In

Food Essay : My Favorite Food
Food is the one thing that we cannot live without. Even for those who have developed the
discipline to fast for a specified period, eventually, they must start eating again. We love our food
to the point that recorded in history as being the first sin. Food is something we all enjoy, and
sometimes it shows. Most of the human race eats three to four meals a day, and the selection of
those foods are not a part of the recommended daily allowances. I will share my favorite foods, my
least favorite foods, and the reason I eat the way that I do and what foods I will incorporate for a
balance diet.
For me, my favorite likes are warm–hot rolls. I prefer wheat more than white with lots of butter.
Biscuits with butter and my homemade apple butter or bacon jam. Oh, my it's yummy. I also make
granola bars with some butter smeared on the bottom of the pan. I put the butter on the parchment
paper which is the last step before I place them in the oven for 25 minutes in a low–temperature
oven. Another one of my likes is my butter crГЁme frosting on top of a white or chocolate cake,
and I scoop the frosting off with lays potatoes chips. These are my special treat items that I
occasionally enjoy.
The food that I enjoy the most is Mexican food. Burrito smothered in green chill, Carnitas,
quesadillas, tacos, guacamole, are my favorite picks. With the population of Hispanics being so
large in Colorado my family enjoys eating Mexican food. The Mexican food here in North Carolina

I Am Passionate About Food
Exploratory Essay
A majority of individuals that inhabit this universe were not born with a talent. I, unfortunately was
no exception. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing
games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt I
would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am
passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I
was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of
becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first,
but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by this
that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living. The
quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as well,
making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion.
Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal,
I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely
indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is
enough to make me determined to pursue this career. As of right now I am pursuing an Associates in
Arts at Rockingham Community

Eating Is Something That I Love And Enjoy
Eating is something that I love and enjoy greatly, I love to try new foods and explore new recipes
with my girlfriend. We generally try to make one new recipe each week. I am not a very picky
eater, however, there are some foods that I do not enjoy at all, such as asparagus, mushrooms, and
brussels sprouts. Most people sit down and have three larger meals a day along with some
snacks. I don't eat very much at one time. Generally, I will eat two eggs in the morning, half a
sandwich for lunch with salad or another side, and for dinner I will have a regular sized portion
of whatever we decide to cook that night. I do enjoy snacking on little things like crackers
throughout the day as well. My eating habits revolve around a busy schedule; I am a full time
student and I have two jobs. So, I spend a lot of time eating in my car or at work. I work with a little
boy who is non–verbal and has autism. He is quite a handful; whenever I am with him I need
something I can eat quickly such as a sandwich, piece of fruit, or a protein bar. I generally try to
eat fairly healthy when I can, which is often hard being so busy and not having a lot of money. To
go back to where my eating habits all started. When I was younger my family ate a lot of
processed foods. My mom was gone on business trips a lot. So, that left my dad in charge for
taking care of my brother and I; he was not the best cook. We would eat things such as ham steak,
pasta, ring dings, and even hotdogs from a can. I was not

Homemade Food Is The Best Choice
Cooking and eating is always fun, especially homemade food. Food is one of the primary
necessities of humans and also plays a vital role in maintaining good health. People work hard to
eat; it does not matter if it is healthy or not, but healthy eating prevents a variety of health problems.
For some people eating is an option, but for others they live to eat. People enjoy cooking their own
meals; it gives us peace of mind, satisfaction, and a guarantee of cleanliness. Homemade food is
always treated as a privilege, especially with our hectic life schedules. Now a days, people seldom
cook at home and find a good reason to go out and eat. There are many different choices when it

They all love homemade food instead of fast food because they say it is delicious. Talking with
people who cook at home, most stated that they make fresh ingredients at home, like grind and
powder all seasonings and curries, so it gives the best flavor, taste, and smell. According to
British Broad Casting, The World Health Organization recommends greatly reducing the intake
of processed foods, because it is not freshly made and people do not know how long it is been in
the freezer or what all ingredients in it (World). Eating at our own kitchen table allow us to eat
more fresh fruits and vegetables so we can focus on all natural ingredients. Most of the people
who cook at home have their own kitchen garden also, so all the vegetables are fresh and organic.
This gives us a great satisfaction and peace of mind that it is fresh cooked meals from our own
garden to the table. The second reason to eat homemade food is that it helps to improve our health.
Before the wide spread availability of fast food restaurants, people always cooked their meals at
home; because of this, they were healthier and lived longer. There were not so many diseases like
myocardial infarction, diabetes, or hypertension; it is so popular now due to not controlling their diet
or eating out all the time. These disease conditions not only affect our health but it also affects our
economy. Unfortunately, many young adults or their

Descriptive Essay About Food
One of the biggest struggles in my life tends to be food. I love eating, but at the same time, I rather
not eat. I love trying new foods with exotic flavors and unique recipes, but I fear the reaction that
by body will force on me. I have recently been diagnosed with a condition known as dyspepsia. This
essentially means my stomach does not enjoy food as much as my mouth does. With each meal, I
face the possibility of becoming nauseous after eating. As a result, I tend to avoid large portions,
greasy, or overly sweet foods. Although, every now and then, I push my fears of food aside and
fully indulge myself in spectacular meals. Poe's Tavern has been the restaurant in which I break
beyond my fears and gorge on food. Located in Wrightsville beach, Poe's Tavern tends to be one of
my favorite places to eat to feel satisfied after a meal, and fascinated as a literary fanatic throughout
the entire experience. This restaurant has been created in honor of the author and poet, Edgar Allan
Poe. Poe has been credited as the creator of the mystery and horror genera. He tends to be most well
known for his poems and short stories, in which Poe's Tavern glorifies through their restaurant
environment as well as food selection. Poe's Tavern has been a phenomenal restaurant for any
literary enthusiast with an interest in a fascinating environment and adventurous taste pallet. The
creators of Poe's Tavern focused as much on their atmosphere as they did the food when creating

Food Relationships
Food Relationships The past few days I have been trying to change my fast food eating habits.
Unfortunately, this
weekend was my official departure from the healthy diet I have been trying, and I mean trying hard,
to
eat all semester long. While, I have been better about exericse, diet on the other hand, has been my
demise! My girlfriend has been cooking me some spinach, baked chicken, rice, fish, lean beef and
pork, tofu and plenty of other nutritious foods. However, that came to a screeching halt this weekend.
I have been eating plenty of protein lately, but my body was screaming for carbohydrates! As a
result, I succumbed to a three piece extra crispy, dark meat chicken meal from KFC. That, plus the
sweet corn and cheesy macaroni as side dishes, released more endorphins than a marathon runner's
high!
Unfortunately, the fat and calorie rife meal of a lifetime, after several but fish, chicken breast, pork
and water, did not end with Colonel Sanders brand of comfort food. After eating such high calorie,
high fat foods, I figured my attempt to keep healthy was ruined. I started to have sugar cravings. I
don't mean fruit sugars, I mean cake batter and cookies and cream flavored yogurt topped with
mini M&M's, cheesecake pieces and gummy bears! Baskin Robbins was right across the street, so I
took myself there and ate a double dipped waffle cone with all the toppings and trimmings.
Truth is, fast food is cheap, tastes great, and much

Food and Nutrition Essay
Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life.
People deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of
civilization. What we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how
healthy we are and how well our body functions. Without proper diet, our body cannot carry out the
functions it needs to perform. Most people have some common knowledge on what is good and
what is bad for the human body to consume. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are some common
items people think of when they think of healthy foods. However, it is not enough just to know
what foods are good for your body, it is also important to understand why certain foods are...show

These include obesity, diabetes, and several heart conditions. Obesity is the term used for
someone who qualifies as significantly overweight. A BMI (Body Mass Index) records weight in
relation to height. A BMI of 25 is overweight and a BMI of 30 is obese. Obesity is not a disease in
its self but it can lead to different health issues, some fatal. Obesity can be related to eighty
percent of type two diabetes, seventy percent of cardiovascular disease, thirty percent to gall
bladder surgeries, and forty two percent to breast and colon cancer. Unfortunately, obesity rates
in people are rising rapidly. The United States alone had an obesity rate of twenty six percent in
2007. Some cases of obesity are gene related, but most other cases are a result of improper dieting
and exercise among the individual ("Why Is Proper Nutrition Important?", Case Western Reserve
University). Type II diabetes is another major effect from improper diet and nutrition. When
someone is a type II diabetic, their body either produces too little of an amount of insulin, or their
body's cells ignore the insulin. Insulin is important in helping your body use sugar for Kavanaugh 3
energy. When a person consumes food with sugar, the sugar is broken down into glucose. Glucose
is used as an energy source for the body and is transported throughout your blood into the cells by
insulin. Without proper amounts of insulin, your body is unable to use the glucose as

The Mediterranean Diet Of Food Essay
If you've ever talked to somebody after they 've traveled to a country such as Italy or Greece, they
probably mentioned how delicious the food was. Food is one of the more common affiliations with
countries that surround the Mediterranean Sea; and understandably so. The food this region
produces is so notable that there is a diet based off it, companied with endless research elaborating
the health benefits it accommodates. Fittingly named The Mediterranean Diet, this compilation of
foods including fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, high fiber breads, whole grains, nuts, olive oil and red
wine are targeted to help prevent a number of diseases as well as promote health in different sectors
of the body. This essay will touch upon each component, benefit, and precaution of the
Mediterranean diet, in depth, all with a main focus on the nutritional factors.
When I introduced the Mediterranean diet, an image probably popped into your head of some
beautiful assortment of food in relation to those parts of the world. The Mediterranean diet
incorporates a fulfilling variety of foods while moderating some of the most craved, but negatively
impactful components of our regular diet. One point of emphasis in the diet is consumption of fruits
and vegetables; some of the most recommended including grapes, blueberries, and starchy vegetables
such as cauliflower and chickpeas. A standout component of this diet is its affiliation with the
prevention of certain cancers; this has been linked to

Food Waste Essay
Food Waste Position/Proposal
By Natalie Parisi
An Introduction to the Problem
Food waste is something that affects us all. It happens anywhere food has a presence; the grocery
store, restaurants, in our homes, at schools, on farms, in production and even in transportation. It
affects people everywhere; those living oceans away and those that share our boarders, people living
across America and throughout Utah, businesses and households alike.
Being Aware is a Personal Responsibility
So is the problem food waste itself, or that food is being thrown out when there are alternative
options? Or is it that we just don't stop to consider there is a problem? My concern is that it's not a
priority for most people. In addition, there are...show more content...
(Sklamberg, par.3)
Claiming Ownership
In our homes waste caused because we don't pay attention; we are inattentive and ignorant. For some
of us, it just isn't important. (Jones, Dive!)
Wasting food is a bad habit that affects all of society and we continue to implicate ourselves in
the problem. Of the total of food loss that is going on about 40 percent is in the household. Overall a
typical household of four loses about 600 dollars in food a year. (Jones 11)
Like many things, we just don't bother or we don't feel that we have the time. We aren't realizing
how much it affects each of us. Have you ever taken the time to stop and think about it?
Thinking about it, I realize that every day I throw something away that could be saved and eaten
later. When I take the trash out there are a number of food items that don't need to be there. After
we finish dinner I am wiping food off of plates and realizing that I've made too much. Every time I
clean out the fridge there is food going into the garbage because I waited too long to use it.
Whatever the reason, I realize that it does affect me in many ways and it's constantly happening in
my home.
Looking at the Impacts of Food Waste
Food Waste affects our pocket book because we are essentially throwing out money. At the same
time it is impacting us financially it's also playing a huge role in the problems we see happening to
our environment.
The US Environment Protection Agency said, "Generating food waste

The Effects Of Food On The Body Essay
Food
Food is any nourishing substance that is eaten, drunk or otherwise taken into the body to sustain life.
Food supplies nutrients to perform important functions in the body. Nutrients are substances that
provide energy for physical activities, for digestion and for regulation of body temperature and also
provide materials for the growth and repair of the body, and for keeping the immune system healthy.
If these nutrients are not present in our food in sufficient amount, could lead to ill health and in
severe cases, death.
The human body requires a wide range of nutrients to stay healthy such as 'macronutrients '
micronutrients, water and fiber. A macronutrient is a major nutritional component present in
relatively large amounts, such as carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Micronutrients, also major
nutritional components that are present in relatively small amounts, such as vitamins & minerals.
The body also needs water, which is needed for every process that the body performs, it is necessary
for digestion, absorption, circulatory and excretory function. Fiber helps to move food through the
digestive system, it is not digested but it helps in the easy elimination of food and prevents
constipation
Many other non–nutritive components also present in food such as colors (natural and synthetic),
flavors, additives, dietary fiber, phytochemicals, flavonoids and various contaminants such as
pesticides which can have a significant impact on health, whether beneficial or toxic.

Reflective Essay About Food
Food brings everyone together no matter what culture you are in. Culture is a way of life shared
by a group of people, beliefs, customs, symbols and etc. Many families can spend time with each
other by preparing and eating dinner at the table, going out for dinner or just celebrating holidays. In
my family, when we eat at the dinner table, we talk about our day and build better bonds through
our interactions. My mother cooks the meal, my sisters and I set up the table with utensils and
place mats and my father is ready to eat. We all sit at the table, no technology, elbows off the table
and we give grace. While we eat, we talk about our day or anything exciting has happened and we
argue and laugh with each other.
Being in my family, we have made many traditions that have been part of my culture since I was a
kid. Going to Disneyland is one of the traditions we have. The entire family would go come to
have a good time with each other. Since we were a big family, it would be too expensive to buyfood
for everyone so we make sandwiches. Everyone would contribute to bring food, my parents would
bring bread, my uncles would bring the meats and veggies and my aunts would bring chips and
sodas. Being a hispanic family, we would also bring black beans with bread. Since its too much to
carry, we would meet up at the cars in the parking structure and eat in the cars. The sandwiches
weren't just ordinary sandwiches, the bread which call " pan frances" basically french bread.

My Passion For Food
Pleasure, survival, passion, greed, and enjoyment all link to one thing and that is food. There are
those who are privileged enough to eat food for pleasure, those who eat for survival, and those
who eat because of stress and so much more. Some people have so much passion for food they
make a career out of it; while those who don't just enjoy the gift they create. I, on the other hand,
have a hate–love relationship with food: I eat it when I'm hungry, when I am stressed, and when I'm
sad. At the end, I always end up feeling guilty for eating too much or too little. In fact, there's times
when I think about food more than I should and then again there are times when I don't think about
it at all. Neither of those options are healthy. I try to make good choices by eating veggies, fruits,
and nuts and try to avoid meat. I try to have a plant based diet only, but I still eat meat when I have
no other choice since my parents are the ones who cook. They got to pick what my sister and I
ate unless we were asked if we wanted something in particular. To begin with, my relationship
with food hasn't been great. For one, I am a picky eater, which is one of the reasons why I don't
enjoy meat. Secondly, I used to binge eat, then I would feel guilty about it and would throw it up.
As disgusting as that sounds, my beginning stages of bulimia are a big reason why I decided to
change my diet and try a healthier alternative; however, I still slip once in awhile and make terrible

My Favorite Experience Of Eating Food
As a foodie, eating foods is my favorite thing and I also find my speciality in eating, that is tasting
food and know the condiment in every dishes. When I was a child, I usually go to kitchen to see

and the cuisine like to use many kinds of condiments. Through the process of knowing the recipe of
cuisine, I also learned many condiments and their use. I didn't know I can have the skill that I can
know what condiments put in dishes until I was in middle school. Once a time, I taste a food that
cooked by an aunt, then I asked her if this dish used some sugar and Thirteen Spice (a spice that
produced at China) and cooked by olive oil rather than sesame oil. The aunt is very surprised that
I got the whole right condiments. She praised me a lot and said I had this skill that other people
don't have. After that, I begin to notice my gustation and form a habit that Before I eat each dish, I
have to try and guess what kind of seasoning is in it. Until now, I still keep this habit.
The process of tasting is happy for me, I enjoy the feeling that food melt in my mouse and the
flavour disperse gradually. But it also exists some problems, I have the keen taste sense and smell

The sundried tomatoes are sparingly sprinkled throughout the dish because the flavor is quite
intense, concentrated and slightly salty so a little goes along way. Many vegetables give pasta the
picture perfect look. When eating this incredible tasting pasta I understand what it takes to make food

it can easily be adapted in diverse culture which makes pasta that more interesting. The pasta dish

Street Food: An Essay On Street Food
Introduction
Street food is exactly what the words conjure up: food available in a public place, such as from a
vendor on a street. And so much more!
Typically, street food is tasty, ready–to–eat food or drink sold on the street, in a market, fair, park or
other public place. It is sold by a hawker or vendor from a portable stall, cart or food truck. Some
street foods are regional but many are not, having spread beyond their place of origin and enjoyed
locally for their exotic or unusual ingredients and flavors. Most street foods are considered both
finger food and fast food and are more reasonably priced than restaurant meals. 2.5 billion People

Today, it has become an urban mainstay in large cities and small towns alike, and continues to
evolve and tempt the passersby on streets around the world. We can definitely say that street food
existed in ancient Greece. The most popular meal was fried fish. Ancient Rome had its street food
vendors too. I should admit that street foods were consumed by poor citizens. Very few people
had an oven or a hearth in their houses. Consequently, they could not cook at home and had to
purchase cheap food in the street. The most common meal of that time was soup with bread. When
we speak about ancient China, we will say that it was one of the first countries, which had catering.
Of course, the poor bought and consumed this food in the street. The rich could afford a servant
who bought street food and carried it to their homes. The standards of street food were not regulated
until the first part of the 15th century. The first country, which legalized street food and established
its standards, was Turkey. The most popular street meals of Turkey and other Eastern countries were

Persuasive Essay On Food
When we eat food, we consume it with thought of it providing nutritional support. Suddenly it has
become easier to obtain by just driving though a drive thru and ordering meal instead of it being
home–cooking with no thought of where it came from. People believe that the food they eat is
giving them nutritional value but in truth it is only doing more harm than good. While some may
argue that it is ultimately the responsibility of the consumer because no one is forced to eat, but the
main problem it to stop eating a western diet that America has been accustomed to diet or not.
Because of the amount of processed food causing chronic diseases, inflation of the pricing of the
health care industry, and the constant fact that food is readily available without properly knowing
what they're eating, it is not publics fault for obesity it's the food industry fault.
The amount of food we eat has become a dangerously high problem and eventually has caused
severe medical conditions. Michael Pollan, who's named one of Times magazine's top 100 Most
Influential People in 2010 and teaches at the University of California at Berkeley and the writer
of the essay called "Escape from the Western Diet. He states, "People eating a western diet are
prone to a complex of chronic disease that seldom strike people eating more traditional diets" (421).

Food And Its Impact On Society
Everyone on earth needs food to sustain themselves, but have we ever thought to consider what we
put in our mouths? Foods have changed greatly as humans continue to advance technologically. The
greatest change of food however comes from society. The foods that we eat and create are
influenced greatly by societies behaviors and habits. Foods in a culture sometimes represent a
society itself. These habits vary from around the world. The easiest and most efficient way for a
society to sustain itself is to produce its own food. As nomadic societies grew larger they were
forced to settle and become somewhat of a agricultural society to sustain their larger population.
The crops that were produced varied around the world but as the world became more
technologically advanced foods could be anywhere at any time we wanted. As populations rise
people had to find a way to produce a great deal of food in a short amount of time. Back then it
was simple because there were not many mouths to feed. The people of today are concerned
about the health issues of food ever since it was industrialized. According to Texas A and M

  • 1. Food Culture Essay Factors Influencing Food Habits and Culture Eating food is essential for all of us, it keep us alive and also gives us enjoyment at the same time. Food can be defined as any substance that can be metabolized by an animal to give energy and build tissue. (ilearn) In ancient time, when people feel hungry, they eat. However, as human history keep developing and evolving, we have a higher standard on choosing food that we like to eat nowadays. In this paper, we are going to evaluate factors that are influencing our food habits and food culture. Those factors can be divided into two main categories, internal factors (individual preference and values) and external factors (geographical, religion, social, economic and political). Internal...show more content... Another example would be Chinese like to eat hot pot in winter to keep them warm. In the northern part of China, there are more spicy dishes than the southern part of China. This is because eating spicy food will keep people warm. In costal region, there is more seafood than the inland region. The reason is because it is easier to get fresh seafood in costal region than in the inland region. Japan is an island surrounded by sea, and that is why eating seafood is famous in Japan. Some locations are better for growing specific food, for example China have the climate advantage in growing tea, and France have the advantage in growing wine. Religion is another external factors influencing food habits and food culture. Different culture has different religion, different religion has different custom and food is an important part of a religion. Some religion such as Muslims, consider eating pork as a dirty food, and people should not eat them. Buddhism do not recommend members to eat meat, because they think that is cruel to kill an animal and that we should respect them so we should not eat them. Therefore, a lot of Buddhism followers are vegetarians. Hinduism followers do not eat cow because they think that cows are scarce. People who believe in a religion will follow the rules of the religion, so this will influence their food habit. Some religions do not have rules about food, but they have specific food to eat. • 2. Food Insecurity Essay Food Insecurity Nutrition is important for healthy life. Many people are still hungry around the world even though there is mass production of food. This is because of unhealthy food production. In today's world we see many obese people because of high intake of high fat and cholesterol containing food. It is important to have a healthy diet/ nutritional intake for individuals to have good foundation for physical and mental health. Now a day's healthy food is getting more expensive rather than unhealthy food. Poor people are forced to eat unhealthy food, while the rich can afford to eat whatever the please. Food insecurity is caused by individuals not having healthy food for their families due to their low income or political and...show more content... Even in developed country like The United States of America food security is a major problem. In the article "Association of Household and Community Characteristics with Adult and Child Food Insecurity among Mexican–Origin Households in Colonias along the Texas–Mexico Border" author Sharkey et.al supports that over population of Mexicans, living in colonies along the Texas– Mexico border causes food insecurity. Because of the Overpopulation on the texas–mexico border there is low availability of healthy food, causing people to eat junk food which lacks of nutritional value, and has high amount of sugar, fat, cholesterol. Food insecurity causes health issues such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and early mortality among young single mothers. According to author Christine A. Stevens young single mothers are affected by food insecurity in two ways "first, the stress of food insecurity can lead to compounding issues of depression for this mother, second, food choice." Factors that assist these problems are socioeconomic status and the ability to obtain adequate nutrition. These young single mothers do not have enough money to give nutritional food to their families. With limited money they do not have a choice for nutritional food and according to Stevens are forced to buy "inexpensive, high fat, high carbohydrates food" (Stevens 163). • 3. Food Essay : My Favorite Food Food is the one thing that we cannot live without. Even for those who have developed the discipline to fast for a specified period, eventually, they must start eating again. We love our food to the point that recorded in history as being the first sin. Food is something we all enjoy, and sometimes it shows. Most of the human race eats three to four meals a day, and the selection of those foods are not a part of the recommended daily allowances. I will share my favorite foods, my least favorite foods, and the reason I eat the way that I do and what foods I will incorporate for a balance diet. For me, my favorite likes are warm–hot rolls. I prefer wheat more than white with lots of butter. Biscuits with butter and my homemade apple butter or bacon jam. Oh, my it's yummy. I also make granola bars with some butter smeared on the bottom of the pan. I put the butter on the parchment paper which is the last step before I place them in the oven for 25 minutes in a low–temperature oven. Another one of my likes is my butter crГЁme frosting on top of a white or chocolate cake, and I scoop the frosting off with lays potatoes chips. These are my special treat items that I occasionally enjoy. The food that I enjoy the most is Mexican food. Burrito smothered in green chill, Carnitas, quesadillas, tacos, guacamole, are my favorite picks. With the population of Hispanics being so large in Colorado my family enjoys eating Mexican food. • 4. I Am Passionate About Food Exploratory Essay A majority of individuals that inhabit this universe were not born with a talent. I, unfortunately was no exception. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt I would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first, but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by this that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living. The quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as well, making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion. Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal, I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is enough to make me determined to pursue this career. As of right now I am pursuing an Associates in Arts at Rockingham Community Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Eating Is Something That I Love And Enjoy Eating is something that I love and enjoy greatly, I love to try new foods and explore new recipes with my girlfriend. We generally try to make one new recipe each week. I am not a very picky eater, however, there are some foods that I do not enjoy at all, such as asparagus, mushrooms, and brussels sprouts. Most people sit down and have three larger meals a day along with some snacks. I don't eat very much at one time. Generally, I will eat two eggs in the morning, half a sandwich for lunch with salad or another side, and for dinner I will have a regular sized portion of whatever we decide to cook that night. I do enjoy snacking on little things like crackers throughout the day as well. My eating habits revolve around a busy schedule; I am a full time student and I have two jobs. So, I spend a lot of time eating in my car or at work. I work with a little boy who is non–verbal and has autism. He is quite a handful; whenever I am with him I need something I can eat quickly such as a sandwich, piece of fruit, or a protein bar. I generally try to eat fairly healthy when I can, which is often hard being so busy and not having a lot of money. To go back to where my eating habits all started. When I was younger my family ate a lot of processed foods. My mom was gone on business trips a lot. So, that left my dad in charge for taking care of my brother and I; he was not the best cook. We would eat things such as ham steak, pasta, ring dings, and even hotdogs from a can. I was not Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Food is one of the primary necessities of humans and also plays a vital role in maintaining good health. People work hard to eat; it does not matter if it is healthy or not, but healthy eating prevents a variety of health problems. For some people eating is an option, but for others they live to eat. People enjoy cooking their own meals; it gives us peace of mind, satisfaction, and a guarantee of cleanliness. Homemade food is always treated as a privilege, especially with our hectic life schedules. Now a days, people seldom cook at home and find a good reason to go out and eat. There are many different choices when it comes to food, but homemade food is the best choice...show more content... They all love homemade food instead of fast food because they say it is delicious. Talking with people who cook at home, most stated that they make fresh ingredients at home, like grind and powder all seasonings and curries, so it gives the best flavor, taste, and smell. According to British Broad Casting, The World Health Organization recommends greatly reducing the intake of processed foods, because it is not freshly made and people do not know how long it is been in the freezer or what all ingredients in it (World). Eating at our own kitchen table allow us to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables so we can focus on all natural ingredients. Most of the people who cook at home have their own kitchen garden also, so all the vegetables are fresh and organic. This gives us a great satisfaction and peace of mind that it is fresh cooked meals from our own garden to the table. The second reason to eat homemade food is that it helps to improve our health. Before the wide spread availability of fast food restaurants, people always cooked their meals at home; because of this, they were healthier and lived longer. There were not so many diseases like myocardial infarction, diabetes, or hypertension; it is so popular now due to not controlling their diet or eating out all the time. These disease conditions not only affect our health but it also affects our economy. Unfortunately, many young adults or their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Descriptive Essay About Food One of the biggest struggles in my life tends to be food. I love eating, but at the same time, I rather not eat. I love trying new foods with exotic flavors and unique recipes, but I fear the reaction that by body will force on me. I have recently been diagnosed with a condition known as dyspepsia. This essentially means my stomach does not enjoy food as much as my mouth does. With each meal, I face the possibility of becoming nauseous after eating. As a result, I tend to avoid large portions, greasy, or overly sweet foods. Although, every now and then, I push my fears of food aside and fully indulge myself in spectacular meals. Poe's Tavern has been the restaurant in which I break beyond my fears and gorge on food. Located in Wrightsville beach, Poe's Tavern tends to be one of my favorite places to eat to feel satisfied after a meal, and fascinated as a literary fanatic throughout the entire experience. This restaurant has been created in honor of the author and poet, Edgar Allan Poe. Poe has been credited as the creator of the mystery and horror genera. He tends to be most well known for his poems and short stories, in which Poe's Tavern glorifies through their restaurant environment as well as food selection. Poe's Tavern has been a phenomenal restaurant for any literary enthusiast with an interest in a fascinating environment and adventurous taste pallet. The creators of Poe's Tavern focused as much on their atmosphere as they did the food when creating such an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Food Relationships Food Relationships The past few days I have been trying to change my fast food eating habits. Unfortunately, this weekend was my official departure from the healthy diet I have been trying, and I mean trying hard, to eat all semester long. While, I have been better about exericse, diet on the other hand, has been my demise! My girlfriend has been cooking me some spinach, baked chicken, rice, fish, lean beef and pork, tofu and plenty of other nutritious foods. However, that came to a screeching halt this weekend. I have been eating plenty of protein lately, but my body was screaming for carbohydrates! As a result, I succumbed to a three piece extra crispy, dark meat chicken meal from KFC. That, plus the sweet corn and cheesy macaroni as side dishes, released more endorphins than a marathon runner's high! Unfortunately, the fat and calorie rife meal of a lifetime, after several but fish, chicken breast, pork and water, did not end with Colonel Sanders brand of comfort food. After eating such high calorie, high fat foods, I figured my attempt to keep healthy was ruined. I started to have sugar cravings. I don't mean fruit sugars, I mean cake batter and cookies and cream flavored yogurt topped with mini M&M's, cheesecake pieces and gummy bears! Baskin Robbins was right across the street, so I took myself there and ate a double dipped waffle cone with all the toppings and trimmings. Truth is, fast food is cheap, tastes great, and much Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Food and Nutrition Essay Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life. People deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of civilization. What we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how healthy we are and how well our body functions. Without proper diet, our body cannot carry out the functions it needs to perform. Most people have some common knowledge on what is good and what is bad for the human body to consume. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are some common items people think of when they think of healthy foods. However, it is not enough just to know what foods are good for your body, it is also important to understand why certain foods are...show more content... These include obesity, diabetes, and several heart conditions. Obesity is the term used for someone who qualifies as significantly overweight. A BMI (Body Mass Index) records weight in relation to height. A BMI of 25 is overweight and a BMI of 30 is obese. Obesity is not a disease in its self but it can lead to different health issues, some fatal. Obesity can be related to eighty percent of type two diabetes, seventy percent of cardiovascular disease, thirty percent to gall bladder surgeries, and forty two percent to breast and colon cancer. Unfortunately, obesity rates in people are rising rapidly. The United States alone had an obesity rate of twenty six percent in 2007. Some cases of obesity are gene related, but most other cases are a result of improper dieting and exercise among the individual ("Why Is Proper Nutrition Important?", Case Western Reserve University). Type II diabetes is another major effect from improper diet and nutrition. When someone is a type II diabetic, their body either produces too little of an amount of insulin, or their body's cells ignore the insulin. Insulin is important in helping your body use sugar for Kavanaugh 3 energy. When a person consumes food with sugar, the sugar is broken down into glucose. Glucose is used as an energy source for the body and is transported throughout your blood into the cells by insulin. • 10. The Mediterranean Diet Of Food Essay If you've ever talked to somebody after they 've traveled to a country such as Italy or Greece, they probably mentioned how delicious the food was. Food is one of the more common affiliations with countries that surround the Mediterranean Sea; and understandably so. The food this region produces is so notable that there is a diet based off it, companied with endless research elaborating the health benefits it accommodates. Fittingly named The Mediterranean Diet, this compilation of foods including fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, high fiber breads, whole grains, nuts, olive oil and red wine are targeted to help prevent a number of diseases as well as promote health in different sectors of the body. This essay will touch upon each component, benefit, and precaution of the Mediterranean diet, in depth, all with a main focus on the nutritional factors. When I introduced the Mediterranean diet, an image probably popped into your head of some beautiful assortment of food in relation to those parts of the world. The Mediterranean diet incorporates a fulfilling variety of foods while moderating some of the most craved, but negatively impactful components of our regular diet. One point of emphasis in the diet is consumption of fruits and vegetables; some of the most recommended including grapes, blueberries, and starchy vegetables such as cauliflower and chickpeas. A standout component of this diet is its affiliation with the prevention of certain cancers; this has been linked to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Food Waste Essay Food Waste Position/Proposal By Natalie Parisi An Introduction to the Problem Food waste is something that affects us all. It happens anywhere food has a presence; the grocery store, restaurants, in our homes, at schools, on farms, in production and even in transportation. It affects people everywhere; those living oceans away and those that share our boarders, people living across America and throughout Utah, businesses and households alike. Being Aware is a Personal Responsibility So is the problem food waste itself, or that food is being thrown out when there are alternative options? Or is it that we just don't stop to consider there is a problem? My concern is that it's not a priority for most people. In addition, there are...show more content... Overall a typical household of four loses about 600 dollars in food a year. (Jones 11) Like many things, we just don't bother or we don't feel that we have the time. We aren't realizing how much it affects each of us. Have you ever taken the time to stop and think about it? Thinking about it, I realize that every day I throw something away that could be saved and eaten later. When I take the trash out there are a number of food items that don't need to be there. After we finish dinner I am wiping food off of plates and realizing that I've made too much. Every time I clean out the fridge there is food going into the garbage because I waited too long to use it. Whatever the reason, I realize that it does affect me in many ways and it's constantly happening in my home. Looking at the Impacts of Food Waste Food Waste affects our pocket book because we are essentially throwing out money. At the same time it is impacting us financially it's also playing a huge role in the problems we see happening to our environment. • 12. The Effects Of Food On The Body Essay Food Food is any nourishing substance that is eaten, drunk or otherwise taken into the body to sustain life. Food supplies nutrients to perform important functions in the body. Nutrients are substances that provide energy for physical activities, for digestion and for regulation of body temperature and also provide materials for the growth and repair of the body, and for keeping the immune system healthy. If these nutrients are not present in our food in sufficient amount, could lead to ill health and in severe cases, death. The human body requires a wide range of nutrients to stay healthy such as 'macronutrients ' micronutrients, water and fiber. A macronutrient is a major nutritional component present in relatively large amounts, such as carbohydrates, protein, and fat. • 13. Reflective Essay About Food Food brings everyone together no matter what culture you are in. Culture is a way of life shared by a group of people, beliefs, customs, symbols and etc. Many families can spend time with each other by preparing and eating dinner at the table, going out for dinner or just celebrating holidays. In my family, when we eat at the dinner table, we talk about our day and build better bonds through our interactions. My mother cooks the meal, my sisters and I set up the table with utensils and place mats and my father is ready to eat. We all sit at the table, no technology, elbows off the table and we give grace. While we eat, we talk about our day or anything exciting has happened and we argue and laugh with each other. Being in my family, we have made many traditions that have been part of my culture since I was a kid. Going to Disneyland is one of the traditions we have. The entire family would go come to have a good time with each other. Since we were a big family, it would be too expensive to buyfood for everyone so we make sandwiches. Everyone would contribute to bring food, my parents would bring bread, my uncles would bring the meats and veggies and my aunts would bring chips and sodas. Being a hispanic family, we would also bring black beans with bread. Since its too much to carry, we would meet up at the cars in the parking structure and eat in the cars. The sandwiches weren't just ordinary sandwiches, the bread which call " pan frances" basically french bread. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My Passion For Food Pleasure, survival, passion, greed, and enjoyment all link to one thing and that is food. There are those who are privileged enough to eat food for pleasure, those who eat for survival, and those who eat because of stress and so much more. Some people have so much passion for food they make a career out of it; while those who don't just enjoy the gift they create. I, on the other hand, have a hate–love relationship with food: I eat it when I'm hungry, when I am stressed, and when I'm sad. At the end, I always end up feeling guilty for eating too much or too little. In fact, there's times when I think about food more than I should and then again there are times when I don't think about it at all. Neither of those options are healthy. I try to make good choices by eating veggies, fruits, and nuts and try to avoid meat. I try to have a plant based diet only, but I still eat meat when I have no other choice since my parents are the ones who cook. They got to pick what my sister and I ate unless we were asked if we wanted something in particular. To begin with, my relationship with food hasn't been great. For one, I am a picky eater, which is one of the reasons why I don't enjoy meat. Secondly, I used to binge eat, then I would feel guilty about it and would throw it up. As disgusting as that sounds, my beginning stages of bulimia are a big reason why I decided to change my diet and try a healthier alternative; however, I still slip once in awhile and make terrible food Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The easiest and most efficient way for a society to sustain itself is to produce its own food. As nomadic societies grew larger they were forced to settle and become somewhat of a agricultural society to sustain their larger population. The crops that were produced varied around the world but as the world became more technologically advanced foods could be anywhere at any time we wanted. As populations rise people had to find a way to produce a great deal of food in a short amount of time. Back then it was simple because there were not many mouths to feed. The people of today are concerned about the health issues of food ever since it was industrialized. According to Texas A and M university the meat inspection act was made for, " Detection and Destruction of diseased meat and /or contaminated meat."
