2. System Development Life Cycle
It shows the phases through which how the
system is developed in step by step process.
There are 8 phases in SDLC :
• Study of the problem :
It is necessary to know & understand the
problem before solving it. If the problem is
complicated the management can take the
help of analyst
3. • Making plan :
This is the most important phase of SDLC where the
feasibility of system as well as system analyst has
to be practical. Your proposal may be accepted or
may be cancelled in this phase due to these
reasons.
o System Cost – the system cost should be in
proportion to the capacity of the company.
o Time – The time consumed in completing the
system is also important. For e.g. the company
needs the system within six months & you decide
the time limit of one or two yr. for it, it could be
cancelled
4. • System Analysis :
In this phase system analyst analyze the
problem that what should he have to do to
solve the problem. In this he has to make a
serious study of the study of he environment
of the system & its boundary, for it data are
collected from different media.
After collecting information on all such points
the designing of the system is begun.
5. • System Design :
In SDLC phases this phase is most challenging.
The outline of system is put in black &
white, on the other hand the modern system
analysts can design it with the help of the
computers.
He decides how the output should be
obtained. It means how many modes there
will be of the output
He prepares the flow chart, the outline of the
records as well as the whole planning of the
execution of the system.
6. • Program Development :
In this phase the system analyst himself creates
the programs or gives it to other
programmers. The system analyst asks the
programmers to create the program as per the
requirement of system. For e.g. suppose a
system contains inventory & finance, he will
give finance to only the programmer who has
some knowledge of accounts or finance
otherwise he will give training to the
programmers.
7. • Programs Testing :
After the creation of programs it has to pass
through individual testing & if several
programmers have created different programs
they are collected into an integrated software
& then whole system is tested.
If the system is found successful for all
aspects, it is forwarded to its next phase.
8. • System Implementation :
This is the last phase of SDLC. In this phase the
user start working on the new system. Before
the beginning of the task, to run smoothly, all
the hardware & software are fulfilled. The
most crucial part of this phase is to give
training to the users
9. • Maintenance :
After the successful implementation of the
system, starts the period of maintenance of
the system. This phase has no limit. This phase
goes until there is the need of the new
system. In this system, both hardware as well
as the software are maintained.
