“BE” – LANGUAGE NOTES
I. We use a form of be with words that describe the subject.
   We use adjectives to describe. Descriptive adjectives have no
   plural form.




     New York is big.              New York and Chicago are big.

 II. Some words that end with –ed or –ing are adjectives: married;
     tired; interesting; boring.

Language Notes

a. A noun is a person, place or thing. We use a noun after be to
   classify or define the subject.

b. We use the article a or an before a singular noun. We use an

d. We can put an adjective before the noun.
