- 2. If the tank to be filled has no working vent alarm – A
vent alarm is a device that sounds off when the tank is
full. It helps warn the tank fillers of full tank or over-
spilling.
The fillers are negligent when filling the tank.
Most often, it has to do with the fillers not using the
proper spill and overfill equipment.
The fillers disregard proper tank filling procedures
If the tank is not well protected, corrosion on the tank
or piping can occur.

hazards, and if it comes from underground storage
tanks, that is a danger waiting to happen. Leaking
underground tanks is not only an environmental
problem, but a financial one too. The unfortunate
owner, aside from having to pay for clean-up and
removal, will also have to pay those aggrieved by
the contamination.

owners, authorities are urging all owners to have
their tanks inspected and serviced regularly by
authorised tank contractors. The owners are
reminded to survey their tank always for signs of
corrosion because this can lead to spills and leaks.
Most importantly, owners are told to install
protection on their tanks. One such protection
device to install is the spill bucket.

- 5. The spill buck is a basin sealed around a tank’s fill pipe. It
acts as a spill protection and containment. It catches
drips or spills that can occur when the fillers disconnect
the hose from the fill pipe after a delivery. All
underground fuel storage tanks should require spill
prevention device like the spill bucket. This can help
prevent oil releases into the environment.

of holding varying amounts of spills. To protect against
spills, it should be large enough to contain enough
amounts of what may come out from the
disconnection of the hose from the fill tank. The larger
the spill bucket is, the more protection it can provide.
