Static charges are observed on duplex rewinders in narrow web and wide web printing. Printed film acquires static charges due to contact and separation from idler rollers and die cutters, which can be as high as 30 kV or more. To eliminate static charges from the film when wound on the rewinder and enhance quality, avoid operator shocks, and mitigate fire risk, Valstat VR 20/VR 80 active AC and DC static discharging bars are recommended for installation on the rewinders. The bars eliminate static charges over a range of up to 600 mm, making them well-suited for this application.

Static charges on slitter and duplex rewinder
Problem
Electrostatic charges are observed on duplex rewinders in narrow web and wide web printing. Printed film
acquires static charges due to contact and separation from idler rollers and die cutters. The static charges can
be as high as 30 kV, or more. It is essential to eliminate the static charges from the film at the time it is wound
on the rewinder in order to enhance quality, avoid shocks to operator and mitigate the risk of spark / fire.
