For practical application of IEC 62305-2 , following types of damages have
been defined:
1. Injury to Living beings by electrical SHOCK - Damage 1 or D1
2. Physical damage - Damage 2 or D2
3. Failure of Electrical & electronic System – Damage 3 or D3

Each type of Damage (alone or in combination) may lead to consequential
loss. From Risk Management point of view , following classification have been
defined :
1. Loss of human life (including permanent injury - Loss 1 or L1
2. Loss of Service to the Public Loss 2 or L2
3. Loss of Cultural Heritage Loss 3 or L3
4. Loss of economic value (structure , its contents and loss of the activities
taking place in/through that structure Loss 4 or L4
