Typically a stratus can be plugged into your network and thats about it. Your database is ready for use. Stratus comprises of a hardware configuration highly optimized for a specific need, a very minimal operating system wherein features and configuration of the operating system are dictated by the special purpose database server and supporting components, a preconfigured database server, preloaded with configuration data to serve a specific enterprise application.

Cumulus – Our OLAP data warehouse system is pre-configured for superior performance Cumulus is an efficient BI solution built on Column-oriented database architecture, aggressive use of data compression and high concurrency models that delivers packaged BI solutions with a ground breaking performance and real-time access to data. Cumullus uses massively parallel processing (MPP) architectures to provide high query performance and platform scalability. MPP architectures consist of independent processors or servers executing in parallel. Most MPP architectures implement a “shared nothing architecture” where each server is self-sufficient and controls its own memory and disk. Shared nothing architectures have a proven record for high scalability and little contention. Cumullus appliances distribute data onto dedicated disk storage units connected to each server in the appliance. This distribution allows DW appliances to resolve a relational query by scanning data on each server in parallel. The divide-and-conquer approach delivers high performance and scales linearly as new servers are added into the architecture.
