BE PROACTIVE
BE PROACTIVE
"Look at the word responsibility—“response-ability”—the ability to choose your
response. Highly proactive people recognize that responsibility. They do not blame
circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior. Their behavior is a
product of their own conscious choice, based on values, rather than a product of their
conditions, based on feeling." ~ Stephen Covey
Being proactive means taking responsibility for your life and actions rather than just
watching how things happen .
Being proactive means anticipating problems, seeking new solutions and doing your
best. Being reactive, on the contrary, means solving problems when they turn up, not
wanting changes and doing the minimum effort.
To be proactive you must be clear about your goal , make acceleration to achieve
these goals . Be proactive means be ready always or we can say be prepared for
further things happen with us .
• When you are PROACTIVE, you make good choices about how you
respond to something happening. You are always ready with a
calm attitude. You do things to make sure that the right things will
happen. You are prepared for anything that might happen. When
things don’t go your way, you aren’t happy, BUT you stay calm.
• When you are REACTIVE, you could explode at any minute. Things
happen and they “catch you off guard”. You aren’t ready for things
that might happen. You deal with things when they happen instead
of being prepared.
Here are a few other benefits of being proactive:
1. Be Prepared:
You plan for things in advance and
therefore you are prepared to
avoid any chaos that can happen
tomorrow. You have succession or
backup plan ready so you just
don’t need to plan things at end
moment.
2. Recognize a need for change:
As you are thinking and planning
ahead of time, you can very well
recognize if somethings needs to
be changed for better over the
time.
3. Assuages problems:
You can uncover potential
problems and minimize the
impact by working in advance on
it.
4. Looking forward – seeing at bigger picture:
Acting proactively means that you
are forward-looking. You start
looking at future benefits and
change yourself accordingly.
5. Self-improvement and awareness:
When you become proactive, you
take charge of yourself. You get to
know who you really are; your
values, beliefs and the purpose
you wish to pursue.
