This document discusses how Cambodian teenagers' behaviors are changing to adopt western ways due to influences like mass media, peers, society, and individual factors. A survey found mass media, society, and individuals to be the strongest influences. Negative impacts of these changed behaviors include damaging Cambodian culture, increased alcohol/drug abuse, and societal insecurity. To address this, the document recommends controlling media more, educating youth on cultural impacts, and promoting Cambodian culture.

4. Cambodian is one of the oldest countries in
the world and we have had our own culture and
tradition hundreds years ago.
However, day by day, the behaviors of
Cambodian youths are changing differently from
the past. In addition, nowadays, we notice that the
behaviors of Cambodia youths, especially teenager
are changing in to western way.

Spoilt our rich culture
 some behaviors such as dress sexily,
kissing in the public, are breaking up our
rich culture.
 It might cause to sexual abuse, or sex
before married in our society.
 The values of Cambodian women are
being cut down too.
 It’s hard to recognize that are they Khmer
or not because the way they dress, their
hair style and their behaviors are
completely different from Khmer.

Alcoholic and Drug Addict
 Drug and alcohol are using by the actors on
the movie show that why some of
Cambodian teenagers are following them
immediately
 When they use them for long time they will
become to be addicted and it’s too hard to
stop using them.
 It will cause the traffic accidents, violence,
and criminals in our society.

 Insecurity in the Society
sexual abuse, criminal, traffic accidents, violence,
drug addict, alcohol addicts, are coming from the
influence of the western culture to Cambodian
Teenagers through peers and mass medias especially,
the movies. There cause of insecurity in our society
and affect to the follower future also

18.  The large number of programming on TV and the
variety of websites and webpages influence the ways of
Cambodian teenagers’ behaviors into western ways. In
addition, our culture which used to be valuable is now
being broke up day bay day. However, it also bring our
society with some good impact that can be the
majority in the development.
 To know about other country’s custom and culture is
not bad but we have to make sure we won’t forget our
own and give more value than others’.

 Start educate teenagers by media about the effects of the
western believers
 Teach people since they were children about our own culture
 Present them about the advantage of our own culture through
mass media and society.
 Make sure that we won’t forget our own culture and give more
value than others’.
 Promote education system
 Government should set plans about promoting our own
country’s resources to other and teenagers should be
encouraged to be involved in society
