1) Board of Engineers Malaysia’s Guidelines for Code of Professional Conduct spells that:
“A Registered Engineer shall undertake assignments only if he is qualified by education
& experience in the specific technical fields in which he is involved.” And “A Registered
Engineer shall act for each employer or clients as faithful agent or trustee.”
a) Give your opinion on how engineers can play a significant role in fulfilling above
statements when involved with work assignments.
b) Speculate when an engineer’s shall face to the “conflict of personal interests” dealing
with their assignments related to the above statements.
2) Engineer’s Act 1967 called for each engineering graduate to be registered with Board
of Engineer Malaysia as Graduate Engineer after graduation. Describe why the
registration is important and what are the benefits to the engineering graduates for
enrolling with the registration.
3) The Institution of Engineer Malaysia (IEM) and Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) are
two important bodies that govern the engineers in Malaysia. Explain the roles of these
institutions and distinguish between them.

construction industry.

produced by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
14) Sustainable Development is defined as the challenge of meeting human needs for
natural resources, industrial products, energy, food, transportation, shelter and
effective waste management while conserving and protecting environmental quality
and the natural resource for future generations. Assess your responsibilities towards
this statement after graduation.
15) Government subsidies for food and petrol/diesel should be revoked and divert to
incentives for implementing sustainable development. Defend your opinion.
