Journals".
• Purpose is to provide free access to full text of articles published in select Indian
biomedical journals indexed in IndMED or PubMed databases.
• Presently covers 86 medical journals, published by learned societies and
medical research centres.
• Collaboration between National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Indian Council of
Medical Research (ICMR)

Journals".
• Purpose is to index selected peer reviewed medical journals published from
India.
• Integrated to PubMed MEDLARS database.
• Presently covers about 100 medical journals, published by learned societies and

• Collaboration between NIC and ICMR for the Indian Medlars Centre.

• A Green OA Channel and Disciplinary Repository, maintained by the NIC.
• A Self-Archiving facility to biomedical researchers and practitioners in India
• Purpose is to global dissemination of peer reviewed medical literature
published from India and South Asia.

12. Medknow Publications
• Medknow Publications [Medknow.com], launched in 1999 in India, is
an open access publisher, now publishing about 328 STM journals, in
collaboration with about 293 learned societies/ associations.
• Majority of journals belong to biomedical subject areas.
• Majority of journals belong to Indian societies/ associations, including
journals of ICMR, .
• They also provide Gold OA publishing solutions to societies in Asian
and African countries, mostly from the developing nations.
• Only few journals receive Article Processing Charges (APC) to get
published after usual peer-reviewing and acceptance, other journals
receive no APC.
• Some journals are indexed in Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science.
• Wolters Kluwer Health has acquired MedKnow in 2011.

India is significant.

– Contents Produced with Creative Common (CC) Licenses
• Needs to strengthen
– Linkages amongst Open Innovation, Open Access and Open
Science Data
– Knowledge Mapping of Collaborative Biomedical Research in
India
– Knowledge Networking amongst Biomedical Research Institutions
– Open Access Advocacy, Capacity Building and Awareness Raising.
