Notas do Editor
Explain how this is the traditional pitch used in all class…then a few years ago...started incorporating additional elements.
WE KNOW JOURNALISM IS A CONVERSATION NOW. WE TAKE VIEWERS ALONG THE LIFE CYCLE OF A STORY. WE NO LONGER WAIT FOR THE 5 OR 6 PM NEWSCASTS. THIS CAME OUT OF MY RESEARCH….THIS WAS MY WAY OF CAPTURING IN CLASS WHAT I NOTICED IN MY RESEARCH BACK IN NEWSROOMS. SM WAS IMPACTING REPORTERS JOB RESPONSIBILITIES IN THREE WAYS.

Majority of policies (63%) advise reporters to break news on SM first vs. website first (19%).
Majority of stations (93%) require or recommend reporters share information about stories while in field
social media is routine source of tips, content, and sources
This ties into SMO – social media optimization
