It allows consumers to browse a merchant's website, select items to purchase and add them to an electronic shopping cart. When ready to checkout, the consumer provides billing and shipping addresses. If the credit card is validated, the order is completed and a receipt is displayed. The order is then forwarded for payment processing and fulfillment. E-commerce offers advantages like 24/7 shopping, global reach, and low costs but also disadvantages such as inability to examine products personally and risk of credit card theft.
