Purpose of slides in class - Lecture is the basis for knowledgeMaybe there’s no textbook, or not used extensivelyOrLecture is a time to discuss and extend the concepts read before class – synthesize a term or theme or definitionUse slides to move things along, ask questions. Don’t use them everytimeIf you put everything on the slides, then post, why would students come to class?Use the tablet to take notes on the slide
None of which you’ll pay attention to when you use slides for asking questions. That’s ok.Did switch to a serif font – some folks think that’s easier to read when it’s text!Blank W , Blank B – press again to bring it back
Where λ = line of text - Light background - good for handouts - creates light - better for smaller spaces

Pie chartsMAKE A POINTif they tilt, more prominence to the data in the foregroundUse the same colors to represent the same thing (I.e. the US) in both pie charts
Slides are fundamentally vertically oriented – you need contrast to make a pointDon’t use the wrong resolution! - looks crappyCredit your sources
Horizontal bar chartsuse only contrast color to emphasize the point of the chart.Making the chart longer to show your point.
