Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT therapy) is actually a type of
cognitive-behavioral therapy. The primary goal of dialectical

The dialectical behavior therapy is called dialectical because it combines two seemingly

the problematic behavior. Acceptance and compassion – not rejection – can motivate people to
change. This type of therapy can be helped by a placebo effect, but this is still to be researched.
