3. Animated GIF
A type of GIF image that can be animated by

14. CPU
CPU stands for “Central Processing Unit”, this
essentially „runs‟ the computer. It processes
everything that the computer does.

15. DPI (Dots Per Inch)
DPI stands for “Dots Per Inch”, this is the
resolution of a particular image. The higher the
number of dots, the higher the resolution or the
clarity of the image.

16. Resolution
This term refers to how
many pixels can fit in
a monitor or printer.
For example a
monitor which has a
resolution of
800x600 means that
the monitor has 800
pixels horizontally
and 600 pixels
vertically.

17. File Extension
A group of letters occurring after a period in a file
name, indicating the purpose or contents of the
file.

18. Compression
To make a file into a smaller size, the main
purpose for this is to transfer it quickly and it
will also take less disk space.

19. Frame Buffer
A buffer that stores the contents of an image pixel
by pixel. A buffer stores data for a short amount
of time.

20. Colour Depth
Colour depth is the number of bits used to make
the colour of a single pixel in a BMP image
