it supplements it.

Transparency
Authenticity
7. Social Media Content
Get into the heads of your audience and
have a relevant conversation with them
inspiring them to further engage with
you and your brand/art.
8. 80/20 Rule
Well-written, engaging, shareable content is
important in your social media posts.
Social media isn’t for selling, it’s for engagement.
80% of posted content should be designed to
“delight” your audience. Posts should be informative,
entertaining, educational, inspiring and fun.
20% can promote your craft and creations, yet still
have a purpose of connection.
10. Pay to Play
A few years ago the social media landscape changed
dramatically.
While your overall page likes and followers were
growing, the interaction and engagement of your
posts were decreasing on your business page.
12. Remember this?
We used to get free programming—shows, cartoons, the
news—paid for by advertisers who interrupted our
programs with commercials.
Facebook is “free”. We get a free personal page with
content and photos that can be shared with friends and
family.
Businesses, brands & artists on the other hand, need to
pay for their content to be shared— “pay to play”
13. Definitions
Organic social media
Use of social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) to
build, engage and interact with a community by publishing
posts, sharing others’ posts, and engaging in conversations
and comments.
Paid social media
Paying social networks to boost the reach of posts, display
ads and videos, or sponsor messaging. Charged on a cost-
per-click (CPC) or cost-per-thousand (CPM) basis.
Measurements showing the path to conversions,
transactions and sales are also used.
14. Organic Reach is Limited
Organic reach on Facebook is 2 percent.
100 Page Likes—you’re reaching 2 people.
It’s necessary to use paid social media to ensure
your content is seen.
15. 86% of marketers are now using both paid
and organic tactics as part of their social
media strategies.
16. Transitioning Media Budgets
Dollars spent on traditional advertising
(newspaper, magazine, radio, TV) are now
shifting to paid social media.
No one in any social medium will tolerate bluff or bluster. They dislike anyone who takes forever to make a point. They particularly don’t like flacks or interviewees who try to make simple concepts unnecessarily complex by burdening them with excessive technical jargon or MBA-speak.
Clearly and transparently communicate facts and insight pertaining to your company, its strategy and its products and therefore appeareth intelligent.
Thou shalt not make someone else speak for thee.
Writeth thy own comments, blog posts, articles, and emails. Flog not. Do not think that nobody will know. Never, never let a lawyer write anything, as all they talk is useless double-speak.
