The document summarizes work from the ArcFUEL project to map forest fire fuel in Mediterranean countries. It describes how fuel type classification maps produced by the ArcFUEL methodology were transformed into INSPIRE-compliant geospatial data and metadata. It also discusses field validation of the ArcFUEL fuel maps that was conducted in Calabria, Italy, which demonstrated the good accuracy of the ArcFUEL methodology.

12. INSPIRE metadata
Commission Regulation (EC) No.
1205/2008 defining the “Implementing
Rules for Metadata.“ The Regulation sets
out the requirements for the creation and
maintenance of metadata for spatial
datasets, spatial dataset series and spatial
data services corresponding to the themes
listed in Annexes I, II and III to Directive
2007/2/EC. It defines a number of
metadata elements, their multiplicities and
the value domains to be used in the
metadata. It is implemented using EN ISO
19115 and EN ISO 19119.

Commission Regulation (EU) No
1089/2010 defining the
“Implementing Rules for
interoperability of spatial data sets
and services“. In addition to the
requirements stated by 1205/2008 it
defines six additional metadata
elements for interoperability of
spatial data sets and services.
