L'Opéra de Paris est une institution publique parisienne dont l'histoire s'étend, sous des appellations diverses selon le contexte, de l'Académie royale de musique à l'Opéra national de Paris, de l'Ancien Régime à nos jours https://www.operadeparis.fr/ C’est dans une vaste opération d’urbanisme imaginée par Napoléon III que s’inscrit le projet de construction d’un nouvel Opéra à Paris. En effet, l’empereur a chargé le baron Haussmann, alors préfet de la Seine, de réhabiliter une grande partie de la ville et tout particulièrement le quartier des affaires et de la finance. Dès 1858, Haussmann définit donc lui-même l’emplacement du futur théâtre, amené à remplacer la salle Le Peletier, devenue trop exiguë. Aucun architecte n’est consulté à propos du choix du terrain, qui se situe juste au-dessus d’une nappe phréatique… Le 29 décembre 1860, un concours d’architecture est organisé pour sélectionner celui qui réalisera « le nouvel Opéra », comme on dit alors. De grands architectes participent à la compétition, parmi lesquels Eugène Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc. Parmi les 171 propositions adressées au jury, cinq retiennent l’attention des membres de la commission d’experts. Finalement, c’est le projet d’un jeune inconnu âgé de 35 ans et n’ayant encore presque aucune réalisation de bâtiment à son actif, Charles Garnier, qui est retenu à l’unanimité. Garnier, qui s’est déplacé dans toute l’Europe pour étudier les proportions des salles de spectacle, leurs installations scéniques et leur architecture, s’est forgé une véritable expertise et rédigera d’ailleurs un ouvrage de synthèse à ce propos en 1871. Haussmann avait conçu l’avenue de l’Opéra de manière à permettre un accès direct au théâtre depuis la résidence des souverains, qui se situait aux Tuileries. La percée fut le plus large possible afin d’éviter tout risque d’encombrement. Par ailleurs, afin d’éviter qu’un nouvel attentat ne soit perpétré contre l’empereur, Garnier aménagea une entrée protégée sur l’un des côtés du bâtiment : elle se caractérisait par une double rampe d’accès permettant de conduire l’empereur vers sa propre rotonde, le menant directement à la loge d’avant-scène. Le résultat fut un véritable quartier urbain refermé sur lui-même et dont le cœur allait battre autour du nouvel Opéra. Le 6 juin 1861, Garnier est officiellement nommé architecte de l’Opéra. Le 27 août débutent les premiers travaux de terrassement. L’Agence Garnier naît au cœur du chantier et soumet le devis pour la réalisation du nouvel Opéra : 33 millions de francs. Le 6 novembre, on réalise que les sous-sols sont gorgés d’eau et qu’il est nécessaire de procéder à l’assèchement de la nappe souterraine. Des pompes à vapeur, qui fonctionnent nuit et jour, sont activées, laissant à Garnier le temps de revoir ses plans et d’envisager l

The presentation looks at the content given to UCA students and staff via the templates including a set of digital literacy skills for today’s creative professional (for students) - as well as digital pedagogy with learning activities and case studies (for staff). It demonstrates how the learning technologists gather and share knowledge about each course throughout the year so the renewed template is created according to user demands, trends in technology and curriculum requirements. Along with the locally built resources in the template, the presentation also looks at how the Blackboard Community Module Page is deployed - but centrally managed outside the course area to target subject specific learning resources – many belonging to the Library. As with all universities, library resources can be overwhelming if not managed correctly. By using subject specific library modules within a course/unit area, students are taken directly to relevant eStream broadcasts, eJournals, databases and no more getting lost and giving up on the library website. With this use of the community modules, the task of providing library resources directly within course/unit areas has finally become manageable, has empowered subject librarians and most importantly enhanced the student experience.
