Why should I advertise my surgery
in the search engines? Q
As a digital marketing agency we are always getting
asked about social media and how it should be

                                                                                 A
       approached. Our answer -

                                                                 “
“ Don’t do anything without examining how social media
can help achieve your core business objectives.

Once you have a strategy in place, and an
understanding of how social media sits within your
business then the stress of ‘what am I going to
       tweet about’ disappears….

Here are our 4 steps to
                implementing a successful

4 steps to implementing successful social media strategy:

1 Select a ‘Social Media Champion’
Someone who people recognise as being linked
to your business, someone who you’d feel
comfortable as ‘the voice’ of your business and of
                 course is a creative thinker!

Social Media for Salons www.eightandfour.com
4 steps to implementing successful social media strategy:

2 Set social media objectives based
                 on your core business objectives
Formulate social media objectives by considering about how it can help to
                 achieve business objectives.
Here at eight&four, we split business objectives into 4 parts:
                 Your revenue,
                 Your brand,
                 Your clients, and;
                 Your people.
For example, under the ‘client’ umbrella an objective might be to improve
customer care, post appointment. Therefore, your social media objective
would be ‘use social platforms to follow up with clients and receive feedback’.
Objectives can be sent quickly and give you a sound basis for developing your
social media tactics (see step 3 below)

4 steps to implementing successful social media strategy:

3 Develop and implement social media tactics
So you’ve got your objectives, what
are you now going to do to meet
                                                                                                             Upload videos
these objectives? to YouTube to help

Social Media for Salons www.eightandfour.com
4 steps to implementing successful social media strategy:

         4 Measure success and evaluate
There’s no point in putting all this time and effort into social
media without inputting benchmarks and developing a concept
of what it is to succeed in social media.
Here’s our advice on the best ways to ‘measure success’:

                                                               How much traffic are
Keep a weekly record you driving from social
of views, comments, media platforms back to
retweets, followers, Which activity created your website?
                                 the most interaction or
likes, fans etc feedback? Start developing Most importantly, have the
an idea of the types of tactics helped you to meet
communication you put out and your wider business objectives –
which is most popular amongst have you received more feedback,
your network. Then use this increased bookings from your online
information to help inform your facility or helped you to position
social media tactics! yourself as a thought-leader
                                                                                              within your industry?
