2. Facts about Multiplication
• Multiplication is the same as repeated addition
• “Times” means “groups of”
• You can reverse the order of the factors and the
product stays the same (commutative property)
• A number x 1 stays the same (identity property)
• When you multiply 2 numbers the product is larger
than the factors unless one of the factors is
zero, one or negative.
• Any number multiplied by 0 equals zero (zero
property)
• The number of 0’s in the product is equal to the
number of 0’s in the factors, if they are multiples of
