1. An unforgettable experience in the mountains
Hills and water are those 2 forms of the nature, that always keeps me curious about them.
Depth of water and height of the mountains is an unbelievable feeling. Life is only lived
once, so all the experiences need to be enjoyed to the fullest. I never miss an opportunity
to travel, specially to the hilly parts. Green, mud and height, this in all forms a mountain.
Around a year back, I took some well deserved break and opted to choose hilly
environment, as my holiday destination. It started with a drive, starting from Chandigarh
and covering everything in between, from Pinjore, Kasauli, Chail, Naldera, Solan,
Shimla, Kufri and Dharampur.
The drive in itself was a wonderful experience. No city pollution to tackle with a bonus
of hill’s freshness. I took a flight to Chandigarh from my hometown Mumbai, then took
a cab from there to enjoy the uniqueness of hills, far away from the metro environment.
It required a little of effort to convince my wife for a hilly holiday, as she’s more of a
metro girl, obviously being born and brought up in Mumbai, you expect so.

2. So, now the journey was on! Finishing off Chandigarh in a whisker, Pinjore hills greeted
us with the famous Pinjore garden, where Pandvas were hiding during their 14 year
hibernation .(history is being discussed related to Mahabharata days).
Next destination was the famous Timber trail trolley! What an experience it was,
everything was there, from height to greenery to uniqueness, that only a hiily
environment can provide.
Food had the real touch of Punjab in the Dharampur eating joint! Then was the turn of the
famous Monkey point in the Kasauli hills. This point is said to be the highest point in this
particular hills. You can see the famous Sukhna lake, standing right up there at that point.
A point of advice, I’ll like to provide to the tourists, beware of the monkeys here, they
can snatch your belongings.
My hotel was booked in the queen of hills, Shimla! Mall road is a unique experience in
this part of the hills. Whole week, I enjoyed and lived my life to the fullest. Scenic beauty
of Naldera, peaceful environment in Chail, these all stayed with me even long after the
holidays were over.
