I have to admit that I was skeptical at completing the personality profile. I thought, "How could a few
questions determine everything about my management style". When I received my results, I was
astonished at how accurate these results portrayed my personality. While deciding which of my
personality traits were advantageous and which were detrimental to my management style, I became
conflicted as all of my scores can be portrayed as both positive and negative depending on the

I would classify my most advantageous trait to be scoring very low on the neuroticism scale. I have

what personality is dominant will help me to learn how improve or change myself personally,
spiritually and professionally. When an individual learns about their personality they are able to

Once the variables making up the factors have been identified, some of the redundant variables
may be removed (Diekhoff, 1992). As such, a large number of traits may be reduced to a number
of personality factors. The procedure of factor analysis was a significant part of both the
development and criticism of the five personality factor theory, as well as the theories on which it is
based.
An experiment conducted by Allport and Oddbert (1936, cited in Goldberg,
1990) was based on the assumption that a dictionary contains a list of every possible trait name.
Oddbert and Allport took every word from a dictionary that related to personality descriptors. This
list was then revised to remove synonyms and unclear or doubtful words. Another researcher,
Raymond Cattell
(1945, cited in Atkinson et al, 1993) further revised the Allport–Oddbert list to 171 words. A study
was then conducted by Cattell on a group of subjects who were asked to rate people they knew on
the 171 traits. The results were factor analysed and 12 personality factors were found. However, 4
additional factors were found by analysing self–ratings. Cattell concluded that, in the adult human,
16 personality factors were dominant.
Eyesenck, (1953, cited in Atkinson et al, 1993) was another major theorist to use factor analysis.
Although using the same basic approach as
Cattell, Eyesenck used a more discriminatory factor analysis which resulted in far less than 16
factors.

I was taught to be caring and thoughtful; I wasn't taught anything else from anyone other than not to
trust people. I'm the odd ball of my family because I am nothing like anyone. I can say I was also
taught to believe in myself and never down myself because I can accomplish anything. That is
shown through my determination and hard work because if I didn't believe in myself I wouldn't try
as hard. Last but not all, Humanistic approach sums up my personality a little more than
psychodynamic does because it involves nature vs. nurture and that kind of sums it up just saying

psychotherapy techniques to prove whether things in an adolescent's life effect different adolescents
differently. His study was a success and proved that many adolescents have different interpretations
on the same issue. He read them off different problems and wanted to see how they would interpret
them. He used children in the age groups of 12–17 and it worked out. I think that the different
approaches can be brought together in some circumstances but in my case it doesn't. My personality

Personality is possibly the most important part of what makes us individuals. It 's said that no two
people look exactly alike; the same can be said about personality; no two personalities are exactly
alike. For hundreds of years theorists have tried to figure out the mind and how it works when it
comes to personality. They have devoted their lives to fitting our vast human personalities into

Unfortunately trying to fit all personalities into these simple units is not as appealing as it may sound.
With every theorists attempt to define the boundaries of personality it seems it becomes more
difficult to understand where individuals unique and diverse behaviors fit in. Many schools of
thought have been developed over the years. Some theorists believe the way people process
information, such as memories and images in society, shape a person 's personality. Others, such as
Sigmund Freud, believe instincts and mental motivators play a major factor in a person 's
personality development. The behavior and social school of thought is also interesting, this school
of thought believes personality is completely learned through life experiences. Even with all the
major schools of thought, not one of them seems to define my own personality entirely to a tee;
instead my personality could be defied by a combination of these schools of thought. There are
basic factors which should be considered when it comes to the nature of our personalities. The
environment around us, our natural human instincts and the experiences we go through in life, all
