The Youth Employment Network (YEN) is a partnership of United Nations, International Labour Organization, and World Bank. YEN was created in 2001 to mobilize action on the commitment of the Millennium Summit for decent and productive work for young people. YEN is a global platform to prioritise youth employment on the development agendas and to exchange on policies and programs to improve employment opportunities for youth.
The overall goal of the Marketplace website is to globally reduce unemployment and underemployment among youth. We aim to do this by supporting the organizations and institutions that work in the field of youth employment. Although we also have some services that directly target young entrepreneurs, our priority is to strengthen the capacity of youth-serving organizations and improve the level of coordination and collaboration between them.
The Marketplace is a platform for youth employment stakeholders to find or exchange innovative ideas, expertise, advice and partnership. Launch of website: May 2012. The website is divided into three main sections each consisting of several services or tools:Partnerships: link up supply with demand. Offers from donors, technical assistance providers, consultants, training providers, mentors with requests from NGO funding, lack of expertise, business improvement, individual counsellingResources: What’s Works. You can also find experts on various topics with a focus on improving the institutional capacity of your organizationCommunity: link to other members, forum, working groups, peer review – submit draft project or business ideas and have them vetted by others in the community
This is really the core of the marketplace, the trading centre. A lot of youth organizations struggle because of dissymmetry of information. This is a one stop shop for opportunity for resources to make a organization sustainable. The aim of the Trading Centre is match making. This page brings together individuals and organizations working on youth employment. Our E-Coaching program matches experienced mentors to young entrepreneurs. Mentors receive training before they start and the Marketplace provides an online platform for communication. On this page, you can browse the available Coaches and Entrepreneurs and sign up for the program.An online collaborative tool for members to come together and work on specific topics. Members can join an existing group or form a new group on a specific topic or project. Includes communication and project management tools. The Idea Lab is about taking innovative ideas that have already been implemented with great results, and adapting them to work in new and different places. A Smart Note is a short publication summarizing a successful project or approach and explaining why it was so successful. Innovation Empowerment Programme (IEP) was founded in the year 2009 by a group of 4 students from the University of Nairobi who were inspired from a study they had carried out on Entrepreneurship as part of class assignment- Challenges facing Entrepreneurs.seeks to empower economically women and youths who are in groups to alleviate poverty in our society. IEP advances a micro-loan in form of a hen and a cage to each member in registered women and youth group. After 6 months one surrenders 2 chicks (once) to the programme for onward lending to other groups and sustainability of the project. So far the project has benefited 1,000 people(Youths, women and people with disabilities).
