3. Which specific production tasks have you
enjoyed most this year?
• I have enjoyed the production side of music videos the most. It was part of the
project that I felt had the most freedom and less restrictions. The filming
process is closest I have gotten to doing what I want to do as a career so it
gave chances to pay with camera settings and adapt to how I wanted it to look.
As well as filming the music vide, I also enjoyed the editing side of it and it
gave me and chance to experiment with premiere pro. The other production I
enjoyed was doing the experiments for the audio topic. I enjoyed researching
different methods to add voice effects and background effects.
4. What challenges have you faced this
year in your practical work?
• I think my time management and prioritising work when I was in production
process. When doing the music video, I left so much time to edit but had too
little footage to edit as I thought it the editing would take longer than the
filming. The same goes when in the production of making a video game, I spent too
much time n certain feature that weren’t important compared to others.
5. Which process do you think you have
made the most development in?
• I think I have developed most when looking at research. At the start of the year,
I struggled to find research that was relevant to my project and tried to skipped
through the process. Now I feel like the research I do is more relevant and more
detailed. It find it more helpful to my final projects now than I did at the
start of the year. The research now has helped me create my final project through
inspiration and relevance.
6. Which technical skill do you think is you
strongest?
• I think my strongest technical skill is filming and editing using premiere pro.
It was also the most enjoyable for . The grade response I got from the production
was higher than the grades for the planning, experiments etc. the filming process
was the quickest as I found an interest in it, therefore making me do it ore
frequently. I learned a lot about how the settings effected the final outcome and
learned a lot is post production. E.g. Light changing, colour grading,
transitions etc.
7. What do you think has been your best
project and why?
• I think my music video has been my best project. I got a good grade in production
and enjoyed the whole process. It was the closest I got to do that in linked to
my career choice as I got to focus on the cinematography of it. The outcome came
to the best I could do with the equipment I had and time. It came out close to
what I had imagined during the planning stage as well.
8. Which project did you enjoy least and
why?
• I think I least enjoyed the horror story audio project. It was the furthest from
what I want to do in the future so I felt like the only useful trait that came it
of the project was learning how to use adobe audition. I didn’t like the fact we
had to stick to the horror genre and felt restricted to use qualities from other
genres that I wanted to try.
9. How have you managed your time
effectively this year?
• Time management is something that I have earned over the time I've spent during
this course. I used time management better in some projects compared to theirs.
Eg the audio project was much more manageable than the music video project. I
think prioritising certain processes over one another is where my problem lies.
11. What roles/specialism do you see
yourself working in on future projects?
I want to be working behind a camera in either videography or photography, I feel
like I have the most control their. It was most enjoyable for me and in the future
I want to go in cinematography or a videographer. In these roles it also gives me
the opportunity to edit which is another process I enjoyed. The music video project
gave me a good insight into working behind a camera as I was able to adapt it to my
preferences. I also felt like I was less restricted in this specialism and more
freedom to experiment in what I wanted to do.
12. What do you see yourself doing at the
end of the course next year?
• I see myself doing portrait photography to educate myself better on the camera as
I found an interest in that or doing a showreel to focus on cinematography.
• The photography I would be able to play with different settings, models,
environments and do different events.
• The cinematography showreel is something I would be more interested in and I
would like to do more in the future.
13. What research do you need to do in order to
explore your future progression options?
• Research on universities, apprenticeships and internships as I don’t know which
is the best option for me yet.
• I need to do research on networking and being in the industry as a
cinematographer, photographer or videography.
• Research on creating my own projects as that will help build my experience and
help build a strong portfolio.
• Which are big companies an which ones are best to work for, or if freelancing is
a better options. (ADAPTING IT TO MY CURRENT AGE)
Notas do Editor
Consider 2-3 specific practical parts of your work this year [e.g. filming or editing, etc] and discuss why these have been your favoured parts of the course so far
Think about the work that has been most challenging this year [try and be specific when talking about tasks] and how you responded to it?
A process would be research or planning or time management, it could be a combination. Talk about what it is, how you feel you’ve developed and where this was most evident in the year
This is a technical skill like filming, editing, photo manipulation, designing adverts or using Photoshop – think of an example that shows your strength
This is looking at how you see yourself specialising as we move into the FMP and into Year 2
