2. Global warming is the phenomenon which increases
the annual average temperature of our planet.
3. 1. Methane
Methane is a chemical
compound based on
carbon which
intensifies the
greenhouse effect and
for this reason it is
called a greenhouse
gas.
4. Methane is emitted mainly from cattle farms which
cover vast areas and is released from the melting ice in
the Antarctic where it is trapped in the form
methanydriti.
5. Carbon dioxide(CO2) is a chemical compound of carbon
and oxygen is also a greenhouse gas.
2. Carbon dioxide
6. Carbon dioxide is released primarily from the
combustion of hydrocarbons in plants and internal
combustion engines.
8. 3. Ozone Hole
• Ozone is a molecular form of
oxygen(Ο3) accumulated in a
zone called the atmosphere
ozone layer.
• The ozone layer absorbs a
large percentage of the sun's
ultraviolet radiation.
9. • Excessive use of CFCs (which are used in refrigeration
machines) and the aforementioned factors deplete
ozone resulting in a phenomenon called “ozone hole”
and allows reaching the earth's surface large amount
of solar ultraviolet radiation.
12. 1. Ice melting
• Global warming causes a continuous decrease in
the volume of ice at the poles. The results are
dramatic for the flora and fauna of the arctic and
arctic Fri.
13. • Additionally rising sea levels flooding coastal areas
with tremendous economic value mainly for man.
14. • Additional bacteria that can be released by melting
glaciers in them could cause serious epidemics and
even more upset the ecological balance.
15. 2. Devastation:
Many areas of the world would become
unsustainable by high temperatures and
drought accompanying.
16. 3. Health
• Heat waves , floods, epidemics, hurricanes and other
severe weather events caused by global warming
result in several deaths each year.
17. 4. Animal kingdom
• Climate leads to the extinction of several
species, resulting in the food chain.
18. 5. Economy:
• The severe weather, epidemics, fires and other
phenomena associated with global warming have
already seen huge economic implications for
countries affected.
19. • In the future, the financial implications will involve
more and more countries if not abandon the narrow
interpretation of the immediate profit.
20. Solution
The only feasible solution today is the replacement of
the combustion of hydrocarbons with renewable
energy sources and replacing hazardous materials
(CFCs) with other noble Environment.
