South Korea is located in East Asia, bordering North Korea and China. Grains have historically been an important part of the Korean diet. While South Korea had never won a World Cup match until co-hosting in 2002, they went on to reach the semi-finals after defeating Poland, Portugal, Italy and Spain, ultimately losing to Germany. Their best World Cup performance remains the 2002 tournament where they finished fourth.
