2. I started by adding the Canon logo and slogan. I put it in
the bottom corner of the image because this is a
negative space. I also darkened the image slightly to
make the text pop out a bit more. I kept experimenting
with the light levels and eventually settled on this look. I
increased the shadows and brought up the highlight
from the screen because I want the viewers eyes to be
drawn to the right half of the image. I also made the logo
bigger so it is even more eye catching.

4. In this image I wanted to use text in an interesting way
so I tried to line up the letters with the keys of the piano.
I also experimented with placing the logo and the slogan
on opposite sides but personally I think it looks better
with them being aligned because it is more cohesive and
it relates to where the viewers eyes are going to go
because of the leading line of his arm. I applied a black
and white filter to the image because it relates to the
piano with its black and white keys, further tying back to
the overall themes of music and creativity.

6. I experimented with the position of the logo and slogan.
First I tried putting it on the left where it intersects the
line of the microphone cord. Then I tried it on the right
which I prefer because it fills in the negative space of the
image. Then I inverted the light levels to create a kind of
“photonegative” effect to make the image more visually
interesting. In my final version I increased this effect even
more to really make it look dramatic and attract viewers.
Even though the composition of the image is very simple I
think that I have used the simplicity of it to make a very
bold and attractive image.
7. Peer feedback
“Very experimental, with different type of artistic takes” - Jasmine
“Shows a journey, images all link together, very consistent, great
images” - Georgia
“Impressive photography and photoshop skills, you can tell that the
position of the text and the object in the images have been thoroughly
thought through.” - Tilly
8. My analysis
I am happy with my final images because I think they are very effective.
I also experimented with various different techniques and improved my
photoshop skills a lot. I think my feedback which I got from peers
reflects this and so I don’t think I need any more changes.
