  1. Process Master is a standards based Business Process Modeling (BPM) software for Business Process Discovery. It provides businesses with the capability of understanding their internal business procedures in a text, XML & graphical notation and will give organizations the ability to communicate and store these procedures in a standard manner.
  2. Process Analysis is a technique for making an organization run as cost-effectively as possible. We think that is what managers are paid to do. However: The traditional tools of financial control do not always achieve this objective; Much of today's Process Analysis software seems designed to support consultancy and to generate fees rather than to solve cost-efficiency problems
  3. The main idea of Process Master is to enable users to perform their jobs better with a minimum of help from outsiders, that includes doing their own Process Analysis.
  4. Do-it-yourself makes sense to us because consultancy is inherently expensive whereas software can be relatively cheap. Re-engineering business processes is a continuous task, just like the more conventional forms of financial control.
  5. The term “Total Quality Management” has lost favor in the United States in recent years: “Quality management” is commonly substituted. “Total Quality Management,” however, is still used extensively in Europe.
  6. This is the way industry and working life seems to be going. With all the off shoring, the world becoming flatter and distributed talent pools, we are increasingly being asked to work in global roles. University and College leavers will probably find themselves working across at least two countries and time zones within the first few years of their careers.
  7. The goal of BPM today is to automate everything possible. But, at the most only 10% of business processes are automation candidates. The rest are simply and elegantly human interaction (which is where Process Master excels, by the way). Ironically, although process modeling fell out of vogue during the Bubble, companies today are returning enmass to the notion, but they're using BPM toolsets to create models. From our perspective, that's like using a solid platinum, diamond encrusted sledgehammer to crack eggs for an omelet.
  8. The methods for implementing this approach come from the teachings of such quality leaders as Dr. W. Edwards Deming who is frequently featured on SKY’s Doccumentry Channel. The programs focus on the Demming Method of Business Management.
  9. Process Master will guide you to identify processes you need to improve most. You can then automate them by redesigning those processes.
  10. Process Analysis is a technique for making an organization run as cost-effectively as possible. We think that is what managers are paid to do.
  11. You cannot do BPM without Six Sigma, and you cannot do Six Sigma without Process Master
  12. The Process Master Approach While we still need the centre of excellence of a SOX internal specialist and certainly internal/external auditor review, the Process Master approach is that many aspects managed by a separate and dedicated team can become part of the way of doing everyday business.
  13. In this way, process owners become responsible for a large majority of the compliance documentation and testing of controls. The internal audit staff or SOX specialist will oversee the SOX compliance initiative and will be responsible for managing the quality of the process by conducting high level reviews to make sure controls and procedures are effective.
  14. Another advantage of this approach is that process owners start to understand their processes better and we will instill the concept of business process re-engineering or transformation into the organization.
  15. Adopt Process Master as your Standardized tool First you have to have a standardized tool for process definition which is easy to use and deployed across the organization. Such standardization ensures that process definitions and controls can not be misinterpreted by different process teams within an organization, as the documentation/testing responsibility shifts to process owners.
  16. Automate business processes Produce standard and repeatable processes Remove Volume Sensitivity Control and track business processes Make business more efficient
  17. Train your employees Train your employees so that process owners can document their own processes and importantly, to the right level of detail. This is easy with Process Master. You can be sure that all employees will document processes in the same way as well. Without the need of a training course, your employees can be documenting processes to the international standard. All the graphical elements are strictly controlled and defined. Documents and specifications can be captured as well.
  18. Document control Your company needs to implement comprehensive document control with a well defined review process to ensure only people with the right authorization can update and review the documents, which is the benefit of the Process Master Repository. This is essential to making sure that the process and control documentation is always correct. Such process documentation can be easily put into a repository if required for version control. This acts like an electronic data vault and is useful for larger organizations in particular. Updates to documentation can be strictly controlled and are checked in with full audit control. Process Master has an easy interface to almost any CMS/DMS repository, with simple check in/check out commands.
  19. Define the controls After process documentation is in place, we need to add controls to this documentation.  This is where the internal SOX experts will be essential to give top down guidance and training to the process owners on what type of controls are necessary and how to test these internal controls. It has to be remembered that SOX is about control points and not just documenting procedures. Process Master allows you to highlight these control points and document the control procedures
  20. There are few things more satisfying in business than resolving a "high visibility" problem within a short timeframe and being able to demonstrate clear value and/or hard savings as a result. If you seek this kind of recurring dose of high job satisfaction, you don't need to change companies to find it. Your organization is probably already full of process-related "pain points" and thus, ripe with opportunities for make meaningful improvements to the business. Ask any Business Manager how many issues they're facing tied to "Can't see it," "Can't control it," "Can't track it," "Can't take cost out of it" and "Can't standardize it."
  21. 10 Things You Can Do To Improve Your Business with Process Master Right Now
  22. Eliminating Mundane Work Every company has resources tied up in and even dedicated to non-value-added work. Examples include re-keying information from one system to another, pulling information and routing it, populating Excel spreadsheets (rather than spending time manipulating the data or applying judgment to the output) and babysitting the progress of a highly-manual process. Process Master software can show you how to automate mundane work through the application of business rules. This means that while some employees will get more work done, others will be freed up completely to work on more value-added work.
  23. Sustaining Compliance These days, companies have pretty solid documentation around their compliance-regulated processes. But documentation often only shows what people are supposed to be doing; it doesn't necessarily track what people are actually doing. And while enterprise applications have embedded workflow capabilities, once that process leaves that application, there's no tracking mechanism. Process Master software provides an internal control framework that spans all of the people and systems that participate in a compliance-affected process. Bear in mind that compliance can mean more than SOX and HIPAA; it also means adherence to internal policies and procedures, as well. The sweet spot for Process Master is any process that involves more than a single system and a heavy dose of manual activity.
  24. Extending Out Enterprise Applications Customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and enterprise content management (ECM) software all trigger processes that involve people who don't have the triggering application on their desktop. The only people who can participate in a process triggered by the enterprise application are those with a seat license to the that enterprise application software. This uncovers two problems. First, it's not cost effective to purchase seat licenses for everyone who has to participate in the process. Second, many people won't use the application because it wasn't designed for them. (When was the last time you saw a salesperson eager to use the company's ERP system?). BPM software hooks into enterprise applications and delivers an enterprise-wide process capability that lets people plug into the process using software they already have and already know how to use (such as Microsoft Office, email, Internet Explorer, etc.). Process Master will help you buy seat licenses for those for whom it makes sense; don't waste your money on everyone else. Estimated time to ROI: 3-9 months Where ROI comes from: reduced seat license costs, reduced training and support costs
  25. Simplifying People's Jobs Learning new software isn't fun. It also delays the ramp time needed to achieve an acceptable level of productivity. Even when they get there, employees find their effectiveness forever hindered because they're being asked to work how the software wants them to work. So if Jill were hired for her experience and judgment surrounding risk assessment, why are you forcing her to spend three weeks learning the company's proprietary, legacy system? BPM software can take data out of existing systems and repurpose it into the format the user is most comfortable with. How much happier would Jill be if she never had to access that antiquated program -- and could simply receive the data she needs pre-populated in an Excel spreadsheet from a process that she designed in Process Master? The same process may require input from the legal department, so not only can they participate in designing the process, but they can mandate their output to be in Word and Adobe PDFs. In all cases, this approach requires nothing new to install and nothing new to learn. Process Master software can enable any business user to present the right information to the right people at the right time in the right format - putting your employees in the best position to add value to your business. Estimated time to ROI: 2-4 months Where ROI comes from: error reduction, reduced training and support costs
  26. Reducing Risk Just making people's jobs less complicated and enforcing existing policies will reduce the risk of mistakes being made. Beyond that, however, there are two other types of risk that Process Master Software can alleviate. First is the elimination of the "I never saw that coming" problems that every company faces. Process Master allows you to build a set of rules that  yields full, enterprise-wide visibility into every step (manual or automated) of a business process so that you can track things going awry and step in to "course correct" before a permanent, negative impact happens. Business rules offer automatic escalations in the case of non-responsiveness. How many times have your processes been slowed down because someone was on vacation and everything was being held up in his or her inbox? In other words, "balls will no longer be dropped." The second involves reducing the risk your company has with respect to human capital. Every organization has that one process that only "Bob" knows how to do. Well, what happens if "Bob" is out of the picture? Process Master software lets you alleviate that risk by building Bob's "know how" into the process. Estimated time to ROI: 6-9 months Where ROI comes from: error prevention, faster cycle times
  27. Knocking Out Process-Related "Pain Points" or Nits Every company has "workarounds" because existing systems have gaps in their ability to meet all of its needs and/or they're too cumbersome to use; thus people avoid using them. I was recently at a global manufacturing company that requires its salespeople to use an ERP application to submit their expenses. As you can imagine, this is going over about as well as taking people's morning coffee away. As a result, people circumvent the process -- thereby creating more work for other people along the way. Why not let salespeople use Excel and email to complete their expenses? You can use Process Master to define the process that can manage the approval process and then feed the data into the ERP system for them. Any company with distributed trading entities usually struggled to standardize its month-end close accounting process that involves dozens of locations. Why not standardize around a single Excel template and build the outcome you want into a process, in Process Master, that can handle the data consolidation and manage the accounting routines? Estimated time to ROI: 1-4 months Where ROI comes from: resource cost reduction, reduced seat license costs
  28. Establishing Full Visibility into How Your Business Operates Within the context of an enterprise-wide process, visibility and control gaps exist in the "white space." The white space is the work that's done by people in between the enterprise systems where visibility does exist. White space typically makes up more than 30% of an enterprise-wide process, and this is where blindness occurs. Take the complex sales process, for example. Any time a customer requests a custom price, product, term and/or condition to the contract, it can't be entirely managed inside a CRM application. Finance has to "run the numbers" to make sure it's a good deal, legal has to "drum up" new contract language and in some cases (depending on the type of company), solutions engineers have to design a new solution. By using Process Master Software to build out the process to "connects the dots" among all of the people and systems that play a key role in an enterprise-wide process, rendering much greater visibility where spotty visibility currently exists. It's the difference between telling people what they're supposed to be doing and tracking what people are actually doing. Estimated time to ROI: 4-8 months Where ROI comes from: risk mitigation, error prevention and reduction
  29. Building an Agile Infrastructure Typical IT projects take 12-18 months to implement. The problem is that things change between the time they're captured in the requirements gathering phase to the time they're rolled out into production. That leaves you with an expensive system that does about three-quarters of what you were hoping it would do and that turns out to be "painful" to make changes to. The right perspective is that your business will always change because business is fluid. Process Master software is built for iterative change, especially those that feature "zero code" implementations. Defining out a "process infrastructure" in Process Master software means that you're not just solving today's problem; you're incorporating sustainable agility and responsiveness into your organization's DNA so that your business can keep up with imminent change. Updates to the process can be made immediately, not in weeks and months. This is a "game changing" competitive advantage to most businesses. Estimated time to ROI: 1-6 months Where ROI comes from: resource cost reduction, technology cost reduction
  30. Reducing the Burden on IT IT continues to have more on its plate than it has the capacity to deliver. So what if business people could implement their own solutions and run their own projects? Process Master software lets business people "own" their processes (modeling, deploying and updating). The updating piece is really the most critical at reducing the burden on IT. Change requests over-burden IT more than requests for new technology. Not only does BPM software make changes easier (see point 8, building an agile infrastructure), but also they can be performed by business people. They can make their own changes and free up IT resources to work on other back office initiatives. Estimated time to ROI: 1-3 months Where ROI comes from: resource cost reduction, heightened responsiveness
  31. Building a Process Infrastructure Thought leading IT departments have already realized that a “Service Orientated Architecture” can provide an attractive alternative to "rip and replace" when it comes to updating a company's IT infrastructure. By deploying a process layer that sits on top of existing IT systems, IT departments can put in place a faster-to-deploy, cheaper to roll out, easier-to-manage and more user-friendly IT infrastructure. Existing systems are integrated via Web services. People are plugged into the process via email, Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer. Process Master software provides a scalable platform that can span the automated and manual activities that makes up your business. Estimated time to ROI: 6-18 months Where ROI comes from: resource cost reduction, heightened responsiveness, reduced seat license costs, technology, risk mitigation, error prevention and reduction, faster cycle times, reduced training and support costs, less costly audits, less "rogue" activity, less costly and more timely remediation
  32. So, there you have it -- 10 concrete ways that the people-centric Process Master software can have an immediate and positive impact on your business. I challenge you to find a more versatile piece of technology with the potential to deliver positive short term value to your business -- over and over and over again.
  33. Process Master® turns text into diagram into code - a software which allows you to grow the discovery of business processes for analisys, improvement and automation.
  34. The Process Master Software platform, Process Master™, is a breakthrough technology that brings the rigor and discipline of business process capture and design in context for the business user.
  35. This powerful convergence has broad impact on key enterprise workplace issues including; improving productivity, delivering new business systems, employee attrition and retention, compliance, business continuity, increasing value of IT infrastructure, capturing and managing intellectual capital and continuous improvement.
  36. A better way to work The Process Master Repository provides instant access to everything people need to do their jobs, and is ideal for managing and communicating business process best practices, standards, policies and procedures. And Process Master gives your key stakeholders access to everything they need to better understand, learn about, and interact with your processes.
  37. SOA and Business Process Discovery The first two words describe a software development methodology. The third word, architecture, is a picture of all the software assets of a company, much as an architectural drawing is a representation of all the pieces that together form a building. Therefore, service-oriented architecture is a strategy that proclaims the intention to build all the software assets in the company using the service-oriented programming methodology
  38. What are web services? And, what's the difference between SOA and web services? SOA is the overarching strategy requiring all systems to be built using a particular software development methodology, typically in a vendor specific BPM designer by technical staff, or Process Master (which is neither proprietary or hard to use).
  39. Web services, meanwhile, are a set of standard communication mechanisms built upon the World Wide Web. Web services are a linking and communications methodology. Process Master guides you in linking your web services in the flow that you want the applicable data to be routed and processed
  40. The way this works is that you identify, in Process Master, which computer acts as the server and the other computers that are going to request help from the server, which responds to their requests. That way you are defining the functionality to be implemented on one computer and made available to many other computers without burdening those other computers with the resource constraints required to perform the function.
  41. The most famous example of web services is Google’s API. It has taken years of software development and crawling the web to build a massive index of the entire Internet. None of us could afford to duplicate that functionality nor the terabytes of disk storage required to hold that index data.
  42. The most famous example of web services is Google’s API. It has taken years of software development and crawling the web to build a massive index of the entire Internet. None of us could afford to duplicate that functionality nor the terabytes of disk storage required to hold that index data. However, Process Master will allow you to (under specific license restrictions) to search the Google index and present the search results within your website.
  43. Sales Force Automation Process Master Business Process Discovery to drive Sales Force Automation The phones are ringing off the hook. Customer inquiries are pouring in. You're generating tens of thousands of sales quotes each month. Not the ideal situation if you're an organization with a manual, time-consuming and inefficient quoting process.
  44. This case study profiles one company's efforts to streamline its business process around sales count and order workflow. With 30,000 iterations a month, saving time on that aspect of the operation could have a real impact on customer satisfaction and business efficiency.
  45. In most organisations the sales quotation process is the most inefficient, and the one that is wasting the most money each year. Even if the entire quotation process takes approximately four to five minutes from start to finish, 30,000 iterations are taking up over 2,000 staff-hours monthly.
  46. Building a Solid Business Case for Process Master Process Master will guide you to identify the processes you need to improve most. You can then automate them by redesigning those processes, instead of spending hundreds of hours creating development specs for a new coded application
  47. The Process Master solution is easy-to-use, so non-programmers (sales employees) can design new processes with minimal or no training in Process Master – it is intuitive to use. It also integrates with the various tools that are used within our existing quoting process, including Microsoft Office and Sharepoint Portal.
  48. Your process is simple to capture and you can maintain all of your existing rules. Sales quotations can follow multiple paths. Such as, if a new member of the team generates a quote, it needs to be reviewed and approved by a supervisor. A quote generated by an experienced staff member can be sent directly to a client. Or, a sales rep may want to review a quote before it is sent out by sales support – Process Master captures all this
  49. One of the features of Process Master is our ability to generate execution definitions that will be used to implement the business processes on BPM engines. As such ProcessMaster positions itself as a bridge between design and execution and between people that run the business and implementers of systems that support the business.
  50. Process Master allows us to create a Business Process which represent the activities of the business process and the flow controls that define the order in which they are performed in plain text, making it the only tool applicable to the wider business community.
  51. Process Master is a collaboration tool that enables business users, analysts and programmers to use a single system to progress their work on the development/improvement of a business process. Each one of the three parties can make changes to the system as they need to. Any changes made by one can be seen in the view most preferable to the other two.
  52. Process Master is a standards based Business Process Modeling (BPM) software for Business Process Discovery. It provides businesses with the capability of understanding their internal business procedures in a text, XML & graphical notation and will give organizations the ability to communicate and store these procedures in a standard manner.
