How do you solve this. I need to find where x intercepts in these 2 graphs. x^2 = cos(x) I know the answer is .82 but how do you get it? Solution It is impossible to solve such equations by equating etc. The only approach is by plotting the graph and approximating th value. The point where the graph intersects denotes that you get same f(x) for an \'x\' . Hence the solution lies there. In my graph above , i drew the parabola and cos x and found by approximation(like Binary Search) the values ti be PLUS 0.82 and MINUS 0.82.
