The term is frequently applied to the project of developing systems endowed with the intellectual processes characteristic of humans, such as the ability to reason, discover meaning, generalize, or learn from past experience.

  4. 4. Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning algorithms are often categorized as supervised or unsupervised.  Supervised machine learning algorithms can apply what has been learned in the past to new data .  In contrast, unsupervised machine learning algorithms are used when the information used to train is neither classified nor labeled.  Semi-supervised machine learning algorithms fall somewhere in between supervised and unsupervised learning, since they use both labeled and unlabeled data for training – typically a small amount of labeled data and a large amount of unlabeled data.  Reinforcement machine learning algorithms is a learning method that interacts with its environment by producing actions and discovers errors or rewards.

Language technology, often called human language technology (HLT), consists of natural language processing (NLP) and computational linguistics (CL) on the one hand, and speech technology on the other. Natural Language Processing Techniques in the Enterprise Data World Natural language processing is largely applied in a variety of industry segments to improve important enterprise activities, including: Formulating responses to questions. Enterprise question answering tools leverage NLP algorithms to enhance customer experience and improve administrative activities by allowing users to ask questions in everyday language about products, services or applications and receive immediate and accurate answers. Social media monitoring. Social media monitoring represents a great opportunity for companies to know what their clients are talking about on social media platforms, blogs, etc….
  6. 6. Speech recognition is the ability of a machine or program to identify words and phrases in spoken language and convert them to a machine-readable format.

A Virtual Agent is an computer generated, animated, artificial intelligence virtual character (usually with anthropomorphic appearance) that serves as an online customer service representative. It leads a intelligent conversation with users, responds to their questions and performs adequate non-verbal behavior
  8. 8. Predictive technology is a body of tools capable of discovering and analyzing patterns in data so that past behavior can be used to forecast likely future behavior. Some of the Companies and organizations that you may not realize actually depend on predictive analytics: • Netflix: Netflix, which has recently announced an expansion into 130 new countries, is the most popular Internet TV streaming service in the world. Netflix utilizes the millions of bits of data they have to predict which shows and movies users would like to watch through their service. • Facebook Every company involved in social media marketing knows that Facebook is a very valuable (and often times, expensive) marketing tool. This is because the social network can predict likely preference patterns based on millions of pieces of demographic information and user activity.
  9. 9. • Boston Medical Center BMC has recently implemented a predictive analytics solution known as Hospital IQ, which allows healthcare institutions to allocate rooms and staff as per predictive patterns. Based on demand patterns, they are thus able to decipher how many staff members and rooms are needed during certain peak times. • Oracle As the second largest software company in the world, Oracle is without a doubt one of the world’s most successful brands. In addition to creating an internal automated form of predictive data mining, the company uses predictive lead generation software's such as Leadspace and IKO System. Used alongside key target metrics and the strategic implementation of lead engagement, predictive analytics is also revolutionizing the sales industry.
  10. 10. Deep Learning is a subfield of machine learning concerned with algorithms inspired by the structure and function of the brain called artificial neural networks.
  11. 11. Artificial intelligence is here to stay: its impact on both social and economic advancements is apparent. Since it allows for increased productivity and efficiency, it boosts the innovative and creative capabilities of a business. At the same time, however, there are a number of legal, ethical and social implications that need to be addressed before we can fully integrate AI into our future.
