What is Digital Literacy?
• Digital Literacy is the process of teaching and
  learning about technology.




             The above picture represents the use of technology after it
                                   was learned.
Digital Literacy in Schools
• Schools have made progress in the area of
  technology, but still have work to do.
• Developments have been made, yet not used
  in schools. (e.g., videoconferencing, online
  sharing spaces such as wikis).

                       The picture to the left represents students using
                                     computers at school.
Learning How To Use Technology
• Learners must be able to communicate in a
  digital society.
• As new technology comes about, it must be
  learned to use quickly and appropriately.


       The picture to the right represents a young child
       learning how to use the technology available to
       learn.
Why is this important?
• Without technology many business would
  take longer to produce the amount of work
  they are able to produce with the technology
  available.

  • 2. What is Digital Literacy? • Digital Literacy is the process of teaching and learning about technology. The above picture represents the use of technology after it was learned.
  • 3. Digital Literacy in Schools • Schools have made progress in the area of technology, but still have work to do. • Developments have been made, yet not used in schools. (e.g., videoconferencing, online sharing spaces such as wikis). The picture to the left represents students using computers at school.
  • 4. Learning How To Use Technology • Learners must be able to communicate in a digital society. • As new technology comes about, it must be learned to use quickly and appropriately. The picture to the right represents a young child learning how to use the technology available to learn.
  • 5. Why is this important? • Without technology many business would take longer to produce the amount of work they are able to produce with the technology available.
