2015 Resume
1. In today’s increasingly complex world, it’s not uncommon for knowledge institutions to have on
staff specialists, sub specialists, and sub-sub-specialists. What’s often in short supply are the
generalists: professionals who have a broad understanding of multiple specialties and who are able
to serve as liaison, facilitating seamless communication across all disciplines. If you take the time
to review my work history, I think you’ll agree that I’m a generalist in the best sense of the word:
• As a Records Technician, Information Coordinator, and Library Assistant, I have
developed training, designed promotional materials, researched and written complex
histories, and streamlined processes to save time and money, all while managing multiple
concurrent responsibilities, all day, every day. In addition, I am always looking for waysto
make our services more accessible to the customers.
• I not only know my way around a database, I have managed upgrades and done extensive
training and user support. I also have some basic competency in French language skills.
• My background demonstrates competencies in teambuilding, coaching, negotiation, and
collaboration. I have served as the point-of-contact to faculty, students, and the general
public through multiple upgrades and relocations. I collect data and statistics to provide
accurate Business Intelligence.
• I am passionate about learning and I want users to get the very most that they can from
our services.
I am a currently studying for the Masters of Information Management program, distance/online at
Dalhousie University and living in the Washington, DC area. I appreciate your commitment to
making a difference in people’s lives. As a dedicated generalist, it’s what I’ve been doing throughout
my career and it’s what I willdo for you. Thank you for your time and consideration; I look forward to
hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Aingeal Stone

Action: Developed a proposal, secured supervisory approval, and pioneered, designed, and
promoted an annual library user survey. Linked the survey to the SharePoint portal for

Impact: The metrics gleaned from the survey enabled the Resource Centre to identify gaps
