KEPENTINGAN WARM DOWN
Apa itu warm down?
 Penyejukkan atau cooling down merupakan suatu aktiviti fizikal yang dilakukan
secara perlahan-lahan dan berhenti seperti berjalan, limbering down (senam
ringan) dan diikuti dengan stretching setelah tubuh bergerak pada tahap
maksimum. Pada umumnya, penyejukan bukan sahaja ditemui dalam sukan
aerobik, tetapi beberapa sukan lain seperti mengangkat, berlari, berenang dan
lain-lain.
 Walaupun tubuh tahu pergerakan dalam latihan metabolisme asas tubuh
akan meningkat dengan dramatik, ini dapat dilihat, apabila kerja kardio
vaskular cepat menyebabkan nafas mula termengah-mengah. Lebih banyak
aliran darah yang mengalir di dalam badan, maka suhu badan mula panas.
Jadi badan akan berpeluh sebagai bentuk rintangan panas yang dialami. Di
samping itu, otot-otot yang berfungkis semasa bergerak menyebabkan
jantung bergerak laju, kerana setiap otot yang menyebabkan aliran darah
menjadi lebih sukar untuk dilalui
Kadar denyutan kembali ke ke normal
 Apa sahaja bentuk senaman akan meningkatkan kadar denyutan jantung
anda, lebih-lebih lagi latihan kardiovaskular. Apabila anda lakukan
penyejukkan badan, anda sebenarnya membantu jantung untuk kembali
ke tahap normal secara perlahan-lahan. Ini akan mengelakkan kesan
sampingan seperti rasa pening atau pitam.
Memperlahankan kadar pernafasan
 Apabila kadar denyutan jantung meningkat, anda akan tercungap-cungap,
bukan? Ini bermakna jantung sedang bekerja keras dan tubuh anda sedang
membakar lebih banyak kalori. Proses menyejukkan badan akan membantu
menurunkan kadar pernafasan menjadi serentak dengan ritma jantung dan
kembali ke tahap normal.
Mengurangkan sakit otot
 Memang biasa jika rasa lenguh dan sakit pada otot selepas sesi senaman.
Tetapi cooling down akan mengurangkan rasa lenguh tersebut dan otot
akan lebih cepat pulih.
 Proses cooling down ini WAJIB dilakukan supaya darah tidak terperangkap
dalam otot yang tidak bekerja dan tidak berkeupayaan untuk balik ke
jantung (blood pooling) yang akan menyebabkan rasa pening-pening. Ini
juga boleh mengelakkan kita daripada mengalami kesakitan otot
disebabkan asid laktik yang terkumpul semasa melakukan aktiviti fizikal.
