Immigration Opinion
Immigration is common in the United States, considering that the nation is called a
melting pot. The government is very concerned with illegal immigration, but we do not give
immigrants much choice to do so legally. We also give the impression we don’t want them here,
with the giant wall we keep patrolling to make sure they don’t cross. The main problem is that
we want to stop illegal immigration and still have people bring them over for work. What’s so
bad about immigrants coming over to the US if they just want to work to get money to send to
their families? We should let immigrants come over and work and give them citizenship. People
are so worried about them taking “our” jobs, but the jobs that these immigrants have are jobs we
do not want. No one here wants the ideal job of being a maid, working in fields pulling crops, or
even being garbage men. People are afraid of immigration because they do not want other
cultures to influence America’s culture. America doesn’t even have a culture; it has many
different cultures from the so many immigrants. America was founded by immigrants anyway,
so we shouldn’t be so against immigration.
